It is thus well-suited for tackling sleep disturbances and the associated impairments in social, occupational and overall functioning in veterans with PTSD. The proposed study is a randomized, controlled clinical trial examining the effectiveness of a modified TranS-C intervention for veterans with PTSD. The modified approach, TranS-C for PTSD (TSC-PTSD), elevates the importance of nightmare-focused, apnea-focused, and insomnia-focused modules relative to the standard intervention, incorporates an evidence-based relaxation module, and modifies the nightmare and apnea modules based on strategies used for veterans in the VA healthcare system.",[9],[27],"TSC-PTSD",{"type":22,"name":29,"description":30,"armGroupLabels":31,"otherNames":32},"Sleep Psychoeducation Control","Participants will receive psychoeducation about sleep.",[15],[33],"SPC",[35],{"name":36,"affiliation":37,"role":38},"Anne Richards, MD MPH","San Francisco VA Medical Center, San Francisco, CA","PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR",[40],{"name":41,"role":42,"phone":43,"phoneExt":44,"email":45},"Emily J Berg","CONTACT","(415) 900-6016",null,"emily.berg@va.gov",[47],{"facility":37,"status":44,"city":48,"state":49,"zip":50,"country":51,"countryCode":52,"cosmosGeoPoint":53,"geoPoint":58,"contacts":59},"San Francisco","California","94121-1563","United States","US",{"type":54,"coordinates":55},"Point",[56,57],-122.41942,37.77493,{"lat":57,"lon":56},[60,61],{"name":41,"role":42,"phone":43,"phoneExt":44,"email":45},{"name":36,"role":38,"phone":44,"phoneExt":44,"email":44},{"type":63,"investigatorFullName":44,"investigatorTitle":44,"investigatorAffiliation":44,"oldNameTitle":44,"oldOrganization":44},"SPONSOR","100558279","a-transdiagnostic-sleep-health-intervention-for-veterans-with-ptsd-100558279",false,"NCT06549049","A Transdiagnostic Sleep Health Intervention for Veterans With PTSD","A Randomized, Controlled Trial of a Modified Sleep and Circadian Intervention for Veterans With PTSD: Advancing Psychosocial Rehabilitation Through Sleep Health","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* U.S. Military Veteran aged 18 and above engaged in VA primary and\u002For mental health care\n* CAPS 5 PTSD diagnosis; or CAPS 5 score \\>=25 in the absence of full criteria\n* SCID Insomnia Disorder diagnosis, supported by ISI score \\>=10\n* CAPS-IV nightmare score \\>=4\n* Sleep-related functional impairment based on a WHODAS score \\>=32\n* Willingness to engage in 8-12 sessions of treatment to address their sleep disturbance\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Current cognitive problems, active psychosis or mania, or other mental\u002Fcognitive conditions such as moderate to severe neurodegenerative disease that would render the participant unable to connect to videoconferencing platform, engage in remote psychotherapy, or communicate using the required VA secure email platform\n* No access to reliable internet service connected to a computer, iPad or similar device (telephone not adequate)\n* Inability or unwillingness to use a VA-approved videoconferencing platform and VA secure email;\n* Current engagement in a sleep-focused psychotherapy, or plan to start a sleep-focused psychotherapy in the next 3 months.
