The peer specialist will help participants identify participation interests, set participation goals, and to achieve those goals while increasing confidence and competence in community participation. Initially, participants will develop a plan for community participation which includes a list of meaningful activities, identifying potential barriers and facilitators to participation. At each weekly meeting, the peer specialist will work with participants to determine what aspects of the plan are working and modify it based on any newly identified barriers, opportunities, or changes to the participants' interests or motivation. The sessions are designed to meet the participants where they are on their journey towards participating in the community. Each successive session will encourage growth and independence through peer support that is tailored to each participant's particular needs and ability.",[13],"Behavioral: Community Navigator Intervention",{"label":15,"type":16,"description":17,"interventionNames":18},"Active control group","ACTIVE_COMPARATOR","Receive information on community participation for adults with your health condition",[19],"Other: Control Group",[21,26],{"type":22,"name":9,"description":23,"armGroupLabels":24,"otherNames":25},"BEHAVIORAL","see previous section",[9],null,{"type":6,"name":27,"description":28,"armGroupLabels":29,"otherNames":25},"Control Group","Participants receive information on how to increase their community participation",[15],[31,36],{"name":32,"role":33,"phone":34,"phoneExt":25,"email":35},"Bryan Mccormick, PhD","CONTACT","215-204-6817","bryan.mccormick@temple.edu",{"name":37,"role":33,"phone":25,"phoneExt":25,"email":38},"Tabea Neumann, M.Sc.","tabea.neumann@temple.edu",{"type":40,"investigatorFullName":25,"investigatorTitle":25,"investigatorAffiliation":25,"oldNameTitle":25,"oldOrganization":25},"SPONSOR",[42],{"name":43,"class":44},"National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research","FED","100561735","community-navigators-100561735",false,"NCT06594029","Community Navigators","Community Participation Navigators: Testing a Peer Intervention for Adults With Serious Mental Illnesses","Navigators","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n1. meet the criteria for an SMI diagnosis of schizophrenia, schizoaffective, bipolar, or major depression diagnosis based on the MINI,\n2. are over the age of 18-years-old\n3. are fluent in English: As current intervention materials and research and intervention personnel are only fluent in English, only participants who can communicate in written and spoken English are eligible for enrollment.\n4. have a permanent residence without constraints on participation (free to come and go from residence without restrictions) 2\n5. have the ability to provide informed consent.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* inability to provide consent (legal guardian)\n* unable to speak and understand English",true,"ALL","18 Years","99 Years",{"count":58,"type":59},96,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[62],"NA","The Temple University Collaborative on Community Inclusion (TU Collaborative) is testing a community navigation intervention study based upon effective health navigation models by conducting a randomized controlled trial of the intervention to establish feasibility, efficacy, and outcomes among adults with serious mental illness (SMI).",[65,66,67],"Loneliness","Social Isolation","Mental Health Issue",[69,70,71],"peer support","community participation","Serious Mental Illness","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2024-09-10",{"date":75,"type":76},"2024-09-19","ACTUAL",{"date":78,"type":59},"2024-09",{"date":80,"type":59},"2032-06",{"name":5,"class":6}]
