The N-back phase of the task allows calculation of cognitive performance of a working memory task. During valuation, participants receive titrating offers of differing amounts of money to perform different difficulty levels of the N-back. The result is an effort discounting curve used to measure the individual effort cost. Effort discounting curves show the perceived cognitive effort required to complete each level of the task relative to another (typically the 1-back).",[9,15],[32],{"name":33,"affiliation":5,"role":34},"David Darrow, MD","PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR",[36,40],{"name":33,"role":37,"phone":38,"phoneExt":25,"email":39},"CONTACT","612-873-7481","Darro015@umn.edu",{"name":33,"role":37,"phone":25,"phoneExt":25,"email":41},"darro015@umn.edu",[43],{"facility":44,"status":45,"city":46,"state":47,"zip":48,"country":49,"countryCode":50,"cosmosGeoPoint":51,"geoPoint":56,"contacts":57},"Hennepin County Medical Center","RECRUITING","Minneapolis","Minnesota","55415","United States","US",{"type":52,"coordinates":53},"Point",[54,55],-93.26384,44.97997,{"lat":55,"lon":54},[58,60,63,65],{"name":59,"role":37,"phone":38,"phoneExt":25,"email":39},"David Darrow, MD MPH",{"name":61,"role":37,"phone":38,"phoneExt":25,"email":62},"Study Coordinator","tnash@hhrinstitute.org",{"name":59,"role":64,"phone":25,"phoneExt":25,"email":25},"SUB_INVESTIGATOR",{"name":66,"role":34,"phone":25,"phoneExt":25,"email":25},"Samual Cramer, MD, PhD",{"type":68,"investigatorFullName":25,"investigatorTitle":25,"investigatorAffiliation":25,"oldNameTitle":25,"oldOrganization":25},"SPONSOR",[70,73],{"name":71,"class":72},"United States Department of Defense","FED",{"name":74,"class":72},"Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences","100464448","early-phase-1-stimulating-after-recovery-from-traumatic-brain-injury-100464448",false,"NCT05327829","Stimulating After Recovery From Traumatic Brain Injury","SMART","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Adults 18 years and older\n* Diagnosis of a mild to moderate TBI (GCS \\> 8 on admission)\n* Able to perform a computerized assessment\n* Willing to attend all scheduled appointments\n* Able to undergo the informed consent process\n\nHealthy participants:\n\n* Adults 18 years and older\n* Able to perform a computerized assessment\n* Willing to attend all scheduled appointments\n* Able to undergo the informed consent process\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Open wound on scalp\n* Severe TBI diagnosis or GCS of less than 8 on admission\n* Non-English speaking\n* Incarcerated\n* Implanted defibrillator or pacemaker\n* Visual impairment that hinders ability to complete computerized assessments\n\nHealthy subject exclusion criteria:\n\n* Less than 18 years of age\n* Open wound on scalp\n* TBI diagnosis\n* Non-English speaking\n* Incarcerated\n* Implanted defibrillator or pacemaker\n* Visual impairment that hinders ability to complete computerized assessments",true,"ALL","18 Years",{"count":86,"type":87},30,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[90],"EARLY_PHASE1","This is a preliminary, prospective interventional study to investigate the feasibility of using transcutaneous alternating current stimulation (TACS) after a traumatic brain injury (TBI) to improve cognitive function and decision-making.",[93],"TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury)","2026-04-01",{"date":96,"type":97},"2026-04-07","ACTUAL",{"date":99,"type":97},"2025-03-31",{"date":101,"type":87},"2028-01-15",{"name":5,"class":6},1]
