The training will be performed with a cycle ergometer with a total of 40 minutes of intradialytic aerobic exercise in the training group. To reduce the effects of intolerance to aerobic exercise, a week of adaptation will be performed, with a frequency of three sessions, in the first two hours of hemodialysis, lasting 40 minutes at maximum heart rate intensity of up to 74% and BORG up to 4 (low intensity). Afterwards, the patients will perform the prediction training for 12 weeks, at the frequency of three training sessions per week in the first two hours of hemodialysis. Each training session will start with a 5-minute warm-up at low intensity, 30 minutes of main training with maximum heart rate intensity 55% to 74% and BORG 5 to 7 (moderate intensity) and will end with a 5-minute cool-down at low intensity.",[9],[25,31],{"name":26,"role":27,"phone":28,"phoneExt":29,"email":30},"Jéssica Canizelli Gonçalez, Ms","CONTACT","47996087774","+55","jessicacgoncalez@hotmail.com",{"name":32,"role":27,"phone":33,"phoneExt":29,"email":34},"Elaine Paulin, PhD","(48) 3664-8600","elaine.paulin@udesc.br",{"type":36,"investigatorFullName":37,"investigatorTitle":38,"investigatorAffiliation":5,"oldNameTitle":18,"oldOrganization":18},"PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR","Jéssica Canizelli Gonçalez","doctoral student","100520339","effects-of-intradialytic-aerobic-exercise-in-chronic-kidney-patients-100520339",false,"NCT06055283","Effects of Intradialytic Aerobic Exercise in Chronic Kidney Patients","Effects of Intradialytic Aerobic Exercise on Peripheral Muscle Function, Functional Status and Motivation in Chronic Kidney Patients: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial","IAECKD","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* diagnosis of chronic kidney disease undergoing renal replacement therapy via hemodialysis\n* aged 20 to 65 years\n* low body mass index at overweight (21 kg\u002Fm2 to 29.9 kg\u002Fm2)\n* regular renal replacement therapy via hemodialysis for 6 months, without acute complications related to the diagnosis and\u002For comorbidities for the period of 3 months prior to the evaluation and intervention.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* patients who do not reach a score equal to or above 20 assessed by the Mini Mental State Examination\n* severe heart failure according to the New York Heart Association classification\n* musculoskeletal alteration that prevents the correct execution of the assessment activities\n* who have participated in other exercise protocols in the last 6 months prior to the present study\n* patients who show signs of clinical instability during the hemodialysis procedure or after training for two consecutive sessions will be excluded throughout the protocol.","ALL","18 Years","65 Years",{"count":51,"type":52},90,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[55],"NA","The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the effects of intradialytic aerobic exercise on muscle capacity, functionality and motivation of patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis.\n\nThe main question it aims to answer are:\n\n• Is intradialytic aerobic exercise at moderate intensity effective in improving peripheral muscle function, functional status and motivation in patients with chronic kidney disease?",[58],"Chronic Kidney Diseases",[60],"Chronic Kidney Disease","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2023-09-19",{"date":64,"type":65},"2023-09-26","ACTUAL",{"date":67,"type":52},"2023-11",{"date":69,"type":52},"2026-12-31",{"name":5,"class":6}]
