It is grounded in principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy and testimonial therapy. NET helps adults reconstruct a coherent narrative of their life by integrating fragmented traumatic memories through structured exposure within a chronological autobiographical framework. Core components include lifeline construction, imaginal exposure to traumatic events, and reprocessing of emotional responses. The method emphasizes stabilization through therapeutic structure and is supported by evidence from randomized controlled trials showing reductions in PTSD symptoms. The approach is protocol-driven and applicable in low-resource settings under supervision, as outlined in the practice document.",[9],[26],{"name":27,"affiliation":28,"role":29},"Vanessa Nolasco Ferreira, Associate Professor, PhD","Kristiania University of Applied Sciences","PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR",[31,35],{"name":27,"role":32,"phone":33,"phoneExt":18,"email":34},"CONTACT","+4741231069","vanessanolasco.ferreira@kristiania.no",{"name":36,"role":32,"phone":18,"phoneExt":37,"email":34},"Ashley Rebecca Bell-Mizori, Master in Psychology","+4747389473",[39],{"facility":40,"status":41,"city":42,"state":18,"zip":43,"country":44,"countryCode":45,"cosmosGeoPoint":46,"geoPoint":51,"contacts":52},"Kristinia University of Applied Sciences","RECRUITING","Oslo","0187","Norway","NO",{"type":47,"coordinates":48},"Point",[49,50],10.74609,59.91273,{"lat":50,"lon":49},[53,54,57],{"name":27,"role":32,"phone":33,"phoneExt":18,"email":34},{"name":36,"role":32,"phone":55,"phoneExt":18,"email":56},"+4747380473","ashleyrebecca.bell-mizori@kristiania.no",{"name":27,"role":29,"phone":18,"phoneExt":18,"email":18},{"type":59,"investigatorFullName":18,"investigatorTitle":18,"investigatorAffiliation":18,"oldNameTitle":18,"oldOrganization":18},"SPONSOR",[61,63,65,68,70,72],{"name":62,"class":6},"University of Konstanz",{"name":64,"class":6},"Oswaldo Cruz Foundation",{"name":66,"class":67},"Mental helse","UNKNOWN",{"name":69,"class":67},"Vårsta Diakoni",{"name":71,"class":67},"Norsk-Ukrainsk hjelpeorganisasjon",{"name":73,"class":6},"The Dam Foundation","100597711","empowering-narratives-100597711",false,"NCT07062042","Empowering Narratives","Styrkende Narrativ: Hjelp Til Selvhjelp for Ukrainske Flyktninger \u002F Empowering Narratives: Help to Self-help to Ukrainian Refugees","EN","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Ukrainian refugee residing in Norway.\n* Arrival in Norway after 24 February 2022.\n* Minimum 18 years old\n* Provided informed consent for participation.\n* Classified as having PTSD symptoms (ITQ) OR reported traumatic experience (LEC-5) OR present PTSD comorbidities (PHQ-9, Shut-D).\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Diagnosis, history, or scores compatible with the psychotic spectrum\n* Diagnostic of neurodevelopmental disorders\n* Current participation in ongoing trauma-focused psychological treatment (e.g., therapy for PTSD).\n* Declining consent for mandatory elements of the study (e.g., participation in screening or treatment delivery).","ALL","18 Years",{"count":85,"type":86},50,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[89],"NA","Background: The Russian invasion of Ukraine has resulted in forced displacement, with over 80,000 Ukrainian refugees now residing in Norway. This displacement has led to increased vulnerability to trauma and mental health challenges. Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), a short-term trauma-focused intervention, has demonstrated efficacy in reducing PTSD symptoms among individuals exposed to organized violence and war.\n\nAim: The protocol aims to assess the clinical effects of Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) on PTSD and depression symptoms among Ukrainian refugees in Norway and to facilitate training and supervised practice for Ukrainian health professionals and workers in using NET.\n\nMethods: This study employs a pretest-posttest randomized controlled experimental design. Ukrainian health professionals and workers in Norway will receive standardized NET training through a digital course. Subsequently, they will treat Ukrainian refugees using NET under supervision. Participants will be screened and assessed at three time points: baseline, immediately after treatment, and at 6-month follow-up. Validated questionnaires in Ukrainian and Russian will be used: PHQ-9, ITQ, LEC-5, SHUT-D, and demographic questionnaire. Exclusion criteria include active psychotic spectrum disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders and concurrent trauma therapy.",[92,93,94,95],"PTSD - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder","Depression Disorders","Dissociation","Refugee",[97,93,94,98,44,22],"PTSD","Ukrainian Refugees","2025-08-12",{"date":101,"type":102},"2025-08-17","ACTUAL",{"date":104,"type":102},"2025-03-01",{"date":106,"type":86},"2026-04-20",{"name":5,"class":6},1]
