The N-back phase of the task allows calculation of cognitive performance of a working memory task. During valuation, participants receive titrating offers of differing amounts of money to perform different difficulty levels of the N-back. The result is an effort discounting curve used to measure the individual effort cost. Effort discounting curves show the perceived cognitive effort required to complete each level of the task relative to another (typically the 1-back).",[13],"Behavioral: COGED",{"label":15,"type":10,"description":16,"interventionNames":17},"Restless Bandit","Participants are presented with three targets (decks of cards) on the screen, which they select with a mouse movement. Each of the three targets is associated with a hidden probability of reward, which drifts unpredictably and independently across trials. This encourages participants to \"exploit\" good options when they are available, but also occasionally to \"explore \"other targets, which could become better at any time. Eye Tracking is done at each visit while the participant completes the Restless Bandit tasks.",[18],"Behavioral: Restless Bandit",[20,24],{"type":21,"name":9,"description":11,"armGroupLabels":22,"otherNames":23},"BEHAVIORAL",[9],null,{"type":21,"name":15,"description":16,"armGroupLabels":25,"otherNames":23},[15],[27],{"name":28,"affiliation":29,"role":30},"David Darrow, MD, MPH","Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute","PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR",[32,37],{"name":33,"role":34,"phone":35,"phoneExt":23,"email":36},"Research Coordinator","CONTACT","612-873-7481","rnl@umn.edu",{"name":28,"role":34,"phone":35,"phoneExt":23,"email":38},"Darro015@umn.edu",[40],{"facility":5,"status":41,"city":42,"state":43,"zip":44,"country":45,"countryCode":46,"cosmosGeoPoint":47,"geoPoint":52,"contacts":53},"RECRUITING","Minneapolis","Minnesota","55455","United States","US",{"type":48,"coordinates":49},"Point",[50,51],-93.26384,44.97997,{"lat":51,"lon":50},[54],{"name":33,"role":34,"phone":35,"phoneExt":23,"email":36},{"type":56,"investigatorFullName":23,"investigatorTitle":23,"investigatorAffiliation":23,"oldNameTitle":23,"oldOrganization":23},"SPONSOR",[58,61],{"name":59,"class":60},"Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences","FED",{"name":62,"class":60},"United States Department of Defense","100600877","evaluation-of-decision-making-fatigue-after-traumatic-brain-injury-100600877",false,"NCT07103200","Evaluation of Decision-Making Fatigue After Traumatic Brain Injury","Evaluation of Decision-Making Fatigue After Traumatic Brain Injury (EDIFY)","EDIFY","Inclusion Criteria for TBI Participants:\n\n* Adults 18 years and older\n* Diagnosis of a mild to moderate TBI (GCS \\> 8 on admission)\n* Able to perform a computerized assessment\n* Willing to attend all scheduled appointments\n* Able to undergo the informed consent process\n\nInclusion Criteria for Healthy Participants:\n\n* Adults 18 years and older\n* Able to perform a computerized assessment\n* Willing to attend all scheduled appointments\n* Able to undergo the informed consent process",true,"ALL","18 Years",{"count":75,"type":76},40,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[79],"NA","This is a preliminary, prospective, cohort study to investigate the feasibility of using the COGED and Restless Bandit tasks after a mild to moderate traumatic brain injury as well as in healthy controls.",[82],"TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury)",[84,85],"Mild TBI","Decision-Making Fatigue","2025-08-01",{"date":88,"type":89},"2025-08-05","ACTUAL",{"date":91,"type":89},"2025-07-01",{"date":93,"type":76},"2029-07-15",{"name":5,"class":6},1]
