Height, weight, blood pressure, and body fat percentage will be measured. Blood (15.5 ml) and urine will be collected. Participants will wear a heart rate monitor and sit in a heat chamber at 62-63 degrees Celsius for 45 minutes. Heart rate will be measured continuously. Body temperature and a self-report of their comfort (1-4 scale) and thermosensation (1-7 scale) will be measured before the challenge, every 15 minutes during the challenge, and after the challenge. During the challenge, a sample of sweat will be collected to measure electrolyte loss. Participants will consume 16 ounces of water at their own pace during the 45 minutes. If they become too uncomfortable to continue or their body temperature rises above 39 degrees Celsius, the challenge will be stopped. All baseline measures except body fat percentage will be measured again.",[9,15],[25],{"name":26,"affiliation":5,"role":27},"Aaron Miller, PhD","PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR",[29,33],{"name":26,"role":30,"phone":31,"phoneExt":10,"email":32},"CONTACT","(319) 335-3053","aaron-miller@uiowa.edu",{"name":34,"role":30,"phone":35,"phoneExt":10,"email":36},"Shelby L Francis, PhD","319-678-8037","shelby-francis@uiowa.edu",[38],{"facility":39,"status":40,"city":41,"state":42,"zip":43,"country":44,"countryCode":45,"cosmosGeoPoint":46,"geoPoint":51,"contacts":52},"University of Iowa Health Care","RECRUITING","Iowa City","Iowa","52242","United States","US",{"type":47,"coordinates":48},"Point",[49,50],-91.53017,41.66113,{"lat":50,"lon":49},[53,54],{"name":34,"role":30,"phone":35,"phoneExt":10,"email":36},{"name":26,"role":27,"phone":10,"phoneExt":10,"email":10},{"type":27,"investigatorFullName":56,"investigatorTitle":57,"investigatorAffiliation":5,"oldNameTitle":10,"oldOrganization":10},"Aaron C. Participants in this aim will be asked to complete a Participant Info and Temperature Survey consisting of questions about race, ethnicity, medical history, and how they experience heat.\n\nAim 2 will consist of a subset of 25 CF Carriers and 25 age- and sex-matched controls from Aim 1. Participants in this aim will be scheduled for a visit to complete a heat challenge. At this visit, they will also complete the Participant Info and Temperature Survey. They will also sit in a sauna at 62 - 63 degrees Celsius for 45 minutes.",[74,75,76],"Carrier State","Heat Stroke","Dehydration","2026-04-21",{"date":79,"type":80},"2026-04-27","ACTUAL",{"date":82,"type":80},"2025-11-19",{"date":84,"type":70},"2026-12",{"name":5,"class":6},1]
