Each session includes 30 breaths through a resistive loading device (POWERbreathe). The training intensity starts at 40% of the Maximum Inspiratory Pressure (MIP) and progressively increases to 90% of MIP. Training load is adjusted weekly based on new MIP measurements to ensure high-intensity stimulus. Compliance and adverse events will be monitored through a training diary.\"",[9],null,[22],{"name":23,"affiliation":24,"role":25},"Darlan Laurício Matte, PhD","Santa Catarina State University (UDESC)","STUDY_CHAIR",[27,32],{"name":28,"role":29,"phone":30,"phoneExt":20,"email":31},"Karina Abreu, MSc","CONTACT","+55 (48) 998230417","fisioterapeutakarina.abreu@gmail.com",{"name":23,"role":29,"phone":33,"phoneExt":20,"email":34},"+55 48 3364 8696","darlan.matte@udesc.br",[36],{"facility":37,"status":20,"city":38,"state":39,"zip":40,"country":41,"countryCode":42,"cosmosGeoPoint":43,"geoPoint":48,"contacts":49},"Santa Catarina State University - CEFID (Center of Health and Sport Sciences)","Florianópolis","Santa Catarina","88080-350","Brazil","BR",{"type":44,"coordinates":45},"Point",[46,47],-48.54917,-27.59667,{"lat":47,"lon":46},[50],{"name":28,"role":29,"phone":51,"phoneExt":20,"email":52},"+55 (48) 3664-8651","karina.abreu1@edu.udesc.br",{"type":54,"investigatorFullName":55,"investigatorTitle":56,"investigatorAffiliation":5,"oldNameTitle":20,"oldOrganization":20},"PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR","Karina Abreu","Principal Investigator","100629025","high-intensity-progressive-inspiratory-muscle-training-in-class-iii-obesity-and-obstructive-sleep-apnea-100629025",false,"NCT07469280","High-Intensity Progressive Inspiratory Muscle Training in Class III Obesity and Obstructive Sleep Apnea","High-Intensity Progressive Inspiratory Muscle Training in Class III Obesity and Obstructive Sleep Apnea: Study Protocol for a Prospective Nonconcurrent Multiple-Baseline Single-Case Experimental Design With Stability-Based Phase Transition","Inclusion Criteria: -Adults (≥18 years).\n\n* Of both genders.\n* Class III obesity (BMI \\> 40 kg\u002Fm²).\n* Diagnosis of OSA.\n* Without neurological conditions that would prevent them from responding to the study assessments.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Systemic diseases (pulmonary, cardiac or renal).\n* Are using medications that may affect muscle performance.\n* Are currently using CPAP therapy.\n* Conditions that could compromise adherence to the study protocol.","ALL","18 Years",{"count":67,"type":68},10,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[71],"NA","The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility and effects of a 12-week high-intensity progressive Inspiratory Muscle Training (IMT) program in individuals with Class III obesity (BMI ≥ 40 kg\u002Fm²) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Using a single-case experimental design (SCED) with multiple baselines, the study will investigate whether this respiratory intervention can reduce the severity of sleep apnea, as measured by the Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI), and improve inspiratory muscle strength and sleep quality.
