However, they are underdiagnosed and sometimes poorly repaired due to technical difficulties, the use of inappropriate surgical techniques, or a lack of awareness of their significant long-term morbidity. These diagnostic and therapeutic errors, however, significantly worsen the functional prognosis of patients.
