The program consists of eight consecutive weeks of parent groups and one follow-up session two months after the last session. Each parent group will include 15-20 participants. The original Mindful Parenting Program will last for around 3 hours for each session, with the longest practice of 40 minutes. Considering parents recruited in the study may have a higher risk of psychiatric conditions than the general population, each session of mindful parenting group will be reduced to 2 to 2.5 hours with the longest mindfulness practice of 30 minutes (Baer et al., 2019).",[9],[26],{"name":27,"role":28,"phone":29,"phoneExt":18,"email":30},"Jiaqi Xu, PhD","CONTACT","(852) 3917-5652","meloxu@hku.hk",[32],{"facility":33,"status":34,"city":35,"state":18,"zip":18,"country":35,"countryCode":36,"cosmosGeoPoint":37,"geoPoint":42,"contacts":43},"Xu Jia-QI","RECRUITING","Hong Kong","HK",{"type":38,"coordinates":39},"Point",[40,41],114.17469,22.27832,{"lat":41,"lon":40},[44],{"name":45,"role":28,"phone":46,"phoneExt":18,"email":30},"Melody XU, Ph.D.","0085239175652",{"type":48,"investigatorFullName":49,"investigatorTitle":50,"investigatorAffiliation":5,"oldNameTitle":18,"oldOrganization":18},"PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR","XU Jia-Qi Melody","Senior Professional Practitioner","100556218","mindful-parenting-for-parents-with-sen-adolescents-100556218",false,"NCT06522243","Mindful Parenting for Parents With SEN Adolescents","Effectiveness of Mindfulness Program for Parents of Children With SEN","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* with one adolescent child with special educational need(s)\n* being the major caregiver for the adolescent for at least one year\n* Cantonese speaker\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* schizophrenia-spectrum disorder\n* bipolar disorder\n* substance abuse\n* developmental disabilities\n* physical disabilities\n* with active psychotic symptoms\n* high suicidal risks\n* experiencing a recent personal crisis",true,"ALL","18 Years",{"count":62,"type":63},120,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[66],"NA","The goal of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of an online eight-week mindful parenting program for parents of adolescents with special needs and its impact on parents' wellbeing and behaviors of their adolescents with SEN(s).\n\nResearchers will randomize the participants into the immediate intervention group (to start the intervention soon after recruitment) and the waitlist control group (to start the intervention after the immediate intervention group) so as to compare the changes between the two groups.\n\nThe participants will join the 8-week mindful parenting intervention and one follow-up session.
