Comprehensive demographic and clinical data, including age, body mass index (BMI), educational level, occupation, and marital status, will be recorded for each participant. Pain intensity will be measured using a 10-cm Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Functional status and symptoms related to knee osteoarthritis will be evaluated using the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) and the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score-Physical Function Short Form (KOOS-PS). To ensure consistency and minimize measurement error, all anthropometric measurements, specifically weight and height, will be performed by the same researcher.",[9,15],[25],{"name":26,"affiliation":5,"role":27},"Eser Kalaoglu, M.D.","PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR",[29],{"name":26,"role":30,"phone":31,"phoneExt":32,"email":33},"CONTACT","+90 (212) 496 50 00","2126","eserkalaoglu@hotmail.com",[35],{"facility":36,"status":37,"city":38,"state":10,"zip":39,"country":40,"countryCode":10,"cosmosGeoPoint":41,"geoPoint":46,"contacts":47},"Istanbul Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Training and Research Hospital","RECRUITING","Istanbul","34186","Turkey (Türkiye)",{"type":42,"coordinates":43},"Point",[44,45],28.94966,41.01384,{"lat":45,"lon":44},[48],{"name":26,"role":30,"phone":31,"phoneExt":32,"email":33},{"type":27,"investigatorFullName":50,"investigatorTitle":51,"investigatorAffiliation":5,"oldNameTitle":10,"oldOrganization":10},"Eser Kalaoglu","Principal Investigator","100621169","neuropathic-pain-in-knee-osteoarthritis-pain-severity-and-functional-status-100621169",false,"NCT07367126","Neuropathic Pain in Knee Osteoarthritis: Pain Severity and Functional Status","Presence of Neuropathic Pain in Knee Osteoarthritis: Relationship Between Pain Severity and Functional Status","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Diagnosed with Knee OA according to ACR criteria.\n* Knee pain for more than 3 months.\n* Voluntary participation.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* History of surgical intervention in the affected knee.\n* History of trauma to the affected knee within the last 6 months.\n* History of intra-articular injections (e.g., corticosteroids, hyaluronic acid, PRP) or physical therapy involving the affected knee within the last 6 months.\n* Presence of severe psychiatric disorders such as severe depression, anxiety disorder, or psychosis.\n* Diagnosis of central nervous system diseases, including Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis.\n* Diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis, such as Rheumatoid Arthritis or Ankylosing Spondylitis.\n* Severe cognitive impairment.\n* Chronic decompensated cardiac, renal, or hepatic failure.\n* Severe psychiatric, neurological, or kognitive disorders.\n\nDecompensated cardiac, renal, or hepatic failure.","ALL","40 Years","70 Years",{"count":63,"type":64},102,"ESTIMATED","OBSERVATIONAL","Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease characterized by structural changes such as cartilage loss and osteophyte formation, leading to functional limitations and disability. Pain in knee OA involves a complex pathophysiological structure including both nociceptive and neuropathic mechanisms. Identifying the neuropathic pain component is clinically significant for improving quality of life and functional recovery. This cross-sectional controlled clinical study aims to determine the prevalence of neuropathic pain in patients with knee OA and evaluate its impact on pain severity and functional status. Patients will be categorized based on the Douleur Neuropathique 4 (DN4) questionnaire and assessed using various pain and functional scales.",[68],"Knee Osteoarthristis",[70,71,72,73],"Pain Intensity","Functional Status","Neuropathic Pain","Knee Osteoarthritis","2026-01-17",{"date":76,"type":77},"2026-01-26","ACTUAL",{"date":79,"type":77},"2025-12-20",{"date":81,"type":64},"2026-04-30",{"name":5,"class":6},1]
