Patients will attend follow-up visits 1, 4, 7 and 13 months after ileostomy repositioning, at which LARS symptoms, quality of life as well as sexual and urinary function will be recorded using various questionnaires. In case of LARS symptoms patients will receive medical treatment with loperamide and metamucil as well as pelvic floor muscle training (including biofeedback and home exercises). Regarding pelvic floor muscle training we are planning nine sessions instructed by physiotherapy staff. In case of therapy-resistant LARS symptoms after 6 months sacral neurostimulation is offered to the patients with a focus on incontinence symptoms and desire for surgery or transanal irrigation in patients with a focus on voiding disorders. In case of urinary and sexual complaints patients are referred to our urology or gynaecology department for further diagnostic and treatment.",[9],[25],{"name":26,"affiliation":27,"role":28},"Daniel Steinemann, Deputy chief physician","Clarunis - Universitäres Bauchzentrum Basel","STUDY_CHAIR",[30,35],{"name":31,"role":32,"phone":33,"phoneExt":18,"email":34},"Felicitas Wiedemann, Resident","CONTACT","+41 61 777 76 09","felicitasinga.wiedemann@clarunis.ch",{"name":36,"role":32,"phone":37,"phoneExt":18,"email":38},"Marco von Strauss und Torney, Senior physician","+41 61 777 7581","marco.vonstrauss@clarunis.ch",[40,53,66,75,88],{"facility":41,"status":42,"city":43,"state":18,"zip":44,"country":45,"countryCode":46,"cosmosGeoPoint":47,"geoPoint":52,"contacts":18},"Clarunis Universitäres Bauchzentrum Basel","RECRUITING","Basel","4002","Switzerland","CH",{"type":48,"coordinates":49},"Point",[50,51],7.57327,47.55839,{"lat":51,"lon":50},{"facility":54,"status":42,"city":55,"state":18,"zip":18,"country":45,"countryCode":46,"cosmosGeoPoint":56,"geoPoint":60,"contacts":61},"Lindenhofspital Bern","Bern",{"type":48,"coordinates":57},[58,59],7.44744,46.94809,{"lat":59,"lon":58},[62],{"name":63,"role":32,"phone":64,"phoneExt":18,"email":65},"Dominik Jakob","0041 31 632 59 00","dominik.jakob@insel.ch",{"facility":67,"status":68,"city":55,"state":18,"zip":18,"country":45,"countryCode":46,"cosmosGeoPoint":69,"geoPoint":71,"contacts":72},"St. Anna Spital Bern","NOT_YET_RECRUITING",{"type":48,"coordinates":70},[58,59],{"lat":59,"lon":58},[73],{"name":74,"role":32,"phone":18,"phoneExt":18,"email":18},"local PI",{"facility":76,"status":42,"city":77,"state":18,"zip":18,"country":45,"countryCode":46,"cosmosGeoPoint":78,"geoPoint":82,"contacts":83},"Kantonsspital Luzern","Lucerne",{"type":48,"coordinates":79},[80,81],8.30635,47.05048,{"lat":81,"lon":80},[84],{"name":85,"role":32,"phone":86,"phoneExt":18,"email":87},"Jörn Markus Gass","041 205 45 39","markus.gass@luks.ch",{"facility":89,"status":42,"city":90,"state":18,"zip":18,"country":45,"countryCode":46,"cosmosGeoPoint":91,"geoPoint":95,"contacts":96},"Kantonsspital Winterthur","Winterthur",{"type":48,"coordinates":92},[93,94],8.72413,47.50564,{"lat":94,"lon":93},[97],{"name":98,"role":32,"phone":99,"phoneExt":18,"email":100},"Benjamin Weixler","004152 266 20 40","viszeralchirurgie@ksw.ch",{"type":102,"investigatorFullName":18,"investigatorTitle":18,"investigatorAffiliation":18,"oldNameTitle":18,"oldOrganization":18},"SPONSOR",[104,106],{"name":105,"class":6},"St. Claraspital AG",{"name":27,"class":6},"100588083","phase-3-improving-functional-outcomes-and-quality-of-life-in-patients-with-rectal-cancer-after-surgery-with-intensified-follow-up--surveillance-100588083",false,"NCT06936774","Improving Functional Outcomes and Quality of Life in Patients With Rectal Cancer After Surgery With Intensified Follow-up & Surveillance","Improving Functional Outcomes and Quality of Life in Patients With Rectal Cancer After Surgery With Intensified Follow-up & Surveillance - a Randomized Controlled Trial (iRECOVER)","iRECOVER","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* patients older than 18 years\n* patients with rectal cancer in the middle and lower third of the rectum in stages I to IV who underwent LAR with TME and protective ileostomy\n* able to give informed consent as documented by signature\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* dementia or other psychiatric disorder that would prevent the patients from answering the questionnaires and experiencing sustainable training effects\n* impossibility of stoma reversal due to persistent anastomotic leak and\u002For local recurrence","ALL","18 Years",{"count":118,"type":119},140,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[122],"PHASE3","The goal of this clinical study is to gain further insights into the treatment of patients with Low Anterior Resection Syndrome (LARS) symptoms after rectal resection.
