Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial","REPOSE-2","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Age ≥45 years;\n* Undergoing elective major surgery under general anesthesia (expected surgery time \\>2 h, expected length of postoperative stay \\>2 d);\n* Fulfilling ≥1 of the following criteria:\n\n  1. history of coronary artery disease;\n  2. history of stroke;\n  3. history of congestive heart failure;\n  4. preoperative NT-proBNP \\>200 pg\u002FmL or BNP\\>92 pg\u002FmL;\n  5. age ≥70 years;\n  6. diabetes requiring medical treatment;\n  7. ASA status 3 or 4;\n  8. history of chronic kidney disease (preoperative sCr \\>133 μmol\u002FL or 1.5 mg\u002FdL);\n  9. history of peripheral arterial disease;\n  10. preoperative serum albumin \\\u003C30 g\u002FL;\n  11. preoperative hemoglobin \\\u003C100 g\u002FL.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Undergoing organ transplantation, cardiac, craniocerebral, burn or interventional operations;\n* Low risk or minor surgery\n* End-stage renal disease requiring renal-replacement therapy;\n* Hepatic dysfunction (Child B or C);\n* Previous liver or kidney transplantation;\n* Previous allergy to general anesthetics;\n* Unable to receive bispectral index monitoring;\n* ASA score ≥5;\n* Exposure to general anesthesia in prior 30 days or anticipated re-exposure to general anesthesia within 30 days after surgery;\n* Need for prolonged airway protection or mechanical ventilatory support after surgery;\n* Current participation in another interventional study;\n* Previous participation in this study;\n* Pregnant or breastfeeding women.","ALL","45 Years",{"count":626,"type":627},7188,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[630],"PHASE4","The goal of this randomized controlled trial is to compare total intravenous anesthesia with remimazolam vs total intravenous anesthesia with propofol in moderate-to-high risk patients undergoing major elective noncardiac surgery under general anesthesia.
