Bone marrow aspiration removes bone marrow fluid and cells through a needle placed into the bone. Usually this sample is taken from the back of the pelvic bone, but it may also be taken from the sternum or the front of the pelvic bone. A bone marrow biopsy removes bone with the marrow inside and is done prior to the aspirate. Each biopsy and aspirate procedure takes approximately 15 minutes total. Bone marrow aspirate may be collected in a separate tube for research or collected from the standard-of-care specimen with left-over aspirate not otherwise needed for clinical purposes, or from previous procedures.",[9,14,17,20],[29],{"name":30,"affiliation":5,"role":31},"Michael Tomasson, MD","PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR",[33],{"name":30,"role":34,"phone":35,"phoneExt":10,"email":36},"CONTACT","319-356-4200","michael-tomasson@uiowa.edu",[38],{"facility":5,"status":39,"city":40,"state":41,"zip":42,"country":43,"countryCode":44,"cosmosGeoPoint":45,"geoPoint":50,"contacts":51},"RECRUITING","Iowa City","Iowa","52242","United States","US",{"type":46,"coordinates":47},"Point",[48,49],-91.53017,41.66113,{"lat":49,"lon":48},[52],{"name":30,"role":34,"phone":35,"phoneExt":10,"email":36},{"type":54,"investigatorFullName":55,"investigatorTitle":56,"investigatorAffiliation":5,"oldNameTitle":10,"oldOrganization":10},"SPONSOR_INVESTIGATOR","Michael Tomasson","Professor of Internal Medicine",[58],{"name":59,"class":60},"Department of Health and Human Services","FED","100371262","sleep-apnea-in-patients-with-mgus-and-mm-100371262",false,"NCT04114084","Sleep Apnea in Patients With MGUS and MM","Patients diagnosed with MGUS or MM who will be receiving a bone marrow biopsy as part of their standard of care are eligible to participate in this study","ALL","18 Years","99 Years",{"count":71,"type":72},200,"ESTIMATED","OBSERVATIONAL","This study involves patients with plasma cell dyscrasia including monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) or multiple myeloma (MM), with and without sleep apnea, who are providing bone marrow specimens.
