The study will evaluate the association between AKI and outcomes of Weaning from Mechanical Ventilation, including success rate, duration, and complications.",{"type":13,"investigatorFullName":14,"investigatorTitle":15,"investigatorAffiliation":5,"oldNameTitle":7,"oldOrganization":7},"PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR","asmaa adel","resident doctor at critical care departement","100629667","what-is-the-effect-of-acute-kidney-injury-on-weaning-from-mechanical-ventilation-in-critically-ill-adult-patients-100629667",false,"NCT07477652","What is the Effect of Acute Kidney Injury on Weaning From Mechanical Ventilation in Critically Ill Adult Patients?","Effect of Acute Kidney Injury on Weaning From Mechanical Ventilation in Critically Ill Adult Patients","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* • Age ≥ 18 years of either sex.\n\n  * Admission to the ICU and receiving invasive mechanical ventilation via endotracheal tube.\n  * Expected duration of mechanical ventilation ≥ 24 hours.\n  * Hemodynamically stable or stabilized at the time of first spontaneous breathing trial (SBT) according to unit protocol (e.g., mean arterial pressure ≥ 65 mmHg with or without low dose vasopressors).\n  * Availability of baseline and daily serum creatinine, urine output, and relevant clinical data to diagnose and stage acute kidney injury according to KDIGO criteria.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Pre existing end stage renal disease on chronic dialysis (hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis).\n\n  * Known advanced chronic kidney disease (e.g., baseline estimated GFR \\\u003C 30 mL\u002Fmin\u002F1.73 m²) if baseline creatinine is available.\n  * Previous tracheostomy before current ICU admission.\n  * Neuromuscular diseases or spinal cord injury causing chronic ventilatory dependence.\n  * Severe pre existing cognitive impairment or brain death at ICU admission.\n  * Do not intubate or comfort care only orders at time of eligibility assessment.\n  * Re intubation after ICU discharge (only the first ICU admission episode will be considered).\n  * Patients or legal representatives refusing or withdrawing consent","ALL","18 Years",{"count":26,"type":27},85,"ESTIMATED","OBSERVATIONAL","The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of acute kidney injury (AKI) on the success rate, duration, and complications of weaning from mechanical ventilation in critically ill adult patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), and to identify whether AKI is an independent predictor of difficult, failed or complicated or weaning.",[31,32],"AKI","Critical Illness","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2026-03-13",{"date":36,"type":37},"2026-03-17","ACTUAL",{"date":39,"type":27},"2026-04-01",{"date":41,"type":27},"2027-07-01",{"name":5,"class":6}]
