The main questions it aims to answer are:\n\n* Does a community-based intervention using indigenous structures significantly improve the uptake of maternal health services (ANC, delivery, and PNC)?\n* Does the intervention effectively reduce the prevalence of maternal depression during the pregnancy and postpartum periods?\n* To what extent does the intervention improve the nutritional status (reducing thinness and stunting) of mothers and their children? Researchers will compare a group of women receiving counseling from trained indigenous social support groups to a control group receiving only the routine health and nutrition education provided by the standard healthcare system to see if the indigenous approach leads to better health and nutritional outcomes.\n\nParticipants will:\n\n* Receive four counseling sessions during pregnancy (starting before 16 weeks of gestation) and four additional sessions during the lactation period, conducted in their homes by trained social support groups.\n* Receive educational leaflets containing core health and nutrition messages and appropriate pictures.\n* Participate in two rounds of surveys (baseline, and endline) involving interviewer-administered questionnaires.\n* Undergo physical measurements, specifically mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC), to assess nutritional status.",[29,30],"Maternal and Child Health","Maternal Nutrition","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2026-04-03",{"date":34,"type":35},"2026-04-13","ACTUAL",{"date":37,"type":23},"2026-04-01",{"date":39,"type":23},"2028-06-30",{"name":41,"class":42},"Bahir Dar University","OTHER",1,{"id":45,"slug":46,"hasResults":11,"nctId":47,"briefTitle":48,"officialTitle":49,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":50,"healthyVolunteers":17,"sex":51,"minAge":52,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":53,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":24,"phases":55,"briefSummary":56,"conditions":57,"keywords":4,"overallStatus":31,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":60,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":61,"startDateStruct":63,"completionDateStruct":64,"leadSponsor":66,"locationsCount":4},"100632000","com-b-model-based-behavioral-intervention-on-safe-pesticide-use-and-food-safety-practice-among-farmers-100632000","NCT07507994","COM-B Model-based Behavioral Intervention on Safe Pesticide Use and Food Safety Practice Among Farmers","COM-B Model-based Behavioral Intervention on Safe Pesticide Use and Food Safety Practice Among Farmers in the North Mecha and Fogera Districts: a Randomized Controlled Trial","Inclusion Criteria: Participants will be eligible for inclusion if they meet the following criteria:\n\n* Farmers actively engaged in crop or produce farming intended for human consumption\n* Individuals regularly involved in agricultural activities, including pesticide handling or application\n* Household heads, primary farm operators, or household members responsible for managing agricultural activities\n* Individuals who have resided in the study area (North Mecha or Fogera districts) for at least six months or one farming season\n* Adults aged 18 years or older\n\nExclusion Criteria: Participants will be excluded if they meet any of the following conditions:\n\n* Individuals not involved in crop production for human consumption\n* Farmers without an operational role in agricultural activities\n* Individuals not regularly engaged in farming activities or without experience in pesticide handling or application\n* Residents who have lived in the selected Kebele for less than six months\n* Individuals currently participating in another similar intervention program","ALL","18 Years",{"count":54,"type":23},572,[26],"This study evaluates the effectiveness of a COM-B-based behavioral intervention to improve safe pesticide use and food safety practices among smallholder farmers in Ethiopia, using a cluster-randomized controlled trial design.
