The trial will also tell us more about the safety of this investigational device. The main questions this study aims to answer are:\n\n* What anatomical changes happen to corneal surface nerves after treatment with ETX-4143\n* What changes in inflammatory mediators and cell response take place after treatment with ETX-4143\n\nResearchers will obtain images of the corneal surface nerves for analysis using a confocal microscope and collect tear bio samples for analysis.\n\nParticipants will:\n\n* Be screened for having chronic ocular surface pain\n* Will be treated with ETX-4143 cold treatment for 4 minutes\n* Fill out a weekly questionnaire on eye pain for 12 weeks\n* Be seen in the clinic 2 weeks, 6 weeks, and 12 weeks after treatment to have images of the corneal surface taken, and to collect a tear bio sample",[27],"Eye Pain",[29,30,31,32,33],"Chronic Ocular Surface Pain","Ophthalmic Cooling","Topical Ophthalmic Cooling","Cooling Device","Ocular Surface","RECRUITING","2026-05-21",{"date":37,"type":38},"2026-05-26","ACTUAL",{"date":40,"type":38},"2025-08-25",{"date":42,"type":21},"2026-07-15",{"name":44,"class":45},"EyeCool Therapeutics, Inc.","INDUSTRY",""]
