It is used in the treatment of diabetes. However, it was shown to improve symptoms and survival of patients who are suffering from heart failure. The exact mechanism of this effect is currently not clearly understood.\n\nHe hypothesize that empagliflozin has other properties than glucose lowering, that can explain its efficacy. One of these properties, is an anti-inflammatory effect.\n\nTo document this, we are using a model of inflammation following percutaneous coronary scenting. We know that patients who get a stent will develop inflammation following stenting. This is documenting by a higher level of C-Reactive Protein 24 hours after the procedure.\n\nPatients who will participate in the study, will receive empagliflozin or a placebo tablet for 3 days prior to the revascularisation procedure. CRP and other inflammatory markers will be measured before intervention and 24 hours later. The goal is to demonstrate a lower rise in CRP following intervention in patients treated with empagliflozin vs. those who have received a placebo.",[27,28,29,30],"CAD - Coronary Artery Disease","Inflamation","PCI","SGLT 2 Inhibitors",[32,33,34],"CAD","inflammation","SGLT2 inhibitors","RECRUITING","2025-12-06",{"date":38,"type":39},"2025-12-18","ACTUAL",{"date":41,"type":39},"2025-09-01",{"date":43,"type":21},"2027-09-30",{"name":45,"class":46},"Hotel Dieu de France Hospital","OTHER",1,{"id":49,"slug":50,"hasResults":11,"nctId":51,"briefTitle":52,"officialTitle":53,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":54,"healthyVolunteers":55,"sex":17,"minAge":18,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":56,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":22,"phases":57,"briefSummary":58,"conditions":59,"keywords":4,"overallStatus":61,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":62,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":63,"startDateStruct":65,"completionDateStruct":66,"leadSponsor":68,"locationsCount":47},"100589625","phase-4-efficacy-of-topical-insuline-in-corneal-epithelial-healing-post-prk-100589625","NCT06956846","Efficacy of Topical Insuline in Corneal Epithelial Healing Post PRK","Efficacy of Topical Insuline Drops in Corneal Epithelial Healing Post PRK in Non Diabetic Patients: an Randomized-controlled Trial","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Myopic or astigmatic patient undergoing excimer laser PRK\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* diabetes mellitus prior ocular surgery ocular surface disease (including dry eye disease, history of herpetic keratitis) previous ocular trauma use of systemic corticosteroids",true,{"count":20,"type":21},[24],"A prospective randomized double-blind controlled trial will be conducted. The informed consent of each patient will be obtained prior to the procedure.\n\nAll patients will undergo a classic PRK procedure\n\nPatients will be instructed to use eye drops blindly in both eyes at a frequency of six times daily:\n\n* In one eye: Insulin drops formulated by combining regular human insulin with artificial tears containing polyethylene glycol (PEG 400) 0,25% at a concentration of 1 unit per milliliter.\n* In the other eye: Placebo drops containing only artificial tears. For the double-blind trial, two identical vials will be provided to each patient: one labeled R (for the right eye) and one labeled L (for the left eye). Using the bloc randomization method, the pharmacy will be the only entity aware of the composition of each vial, ensuring that 50% of patients use insulin drops in the right eye and 50% in the left eye.\n\nEvery week the drops will be prepared one day prior to the PRK procedure and will be stored in a refrigerator, to be used within one week of their preparation date.\n\nPatients will be examined by two ophthalmology residents on days 2 and 4 post-operatively.\n\nThe size of the epithelial defect in both eyes will be measured using the ImageJ software. Thus, the primary outcome of the study is the ulceration closure rate: the smaller the defect, the faster the epithelial healing is.\n\nAdditionally, a comparison of subjective symptoms reported by the patient in each eye will be recorded.",[60],"Corneal Epithelial Wound Healing","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2025-04-25",{"date":64,"type":39},"2025-05-04",{"date":62,"type":21},{"date":67,"type":21},"2025-07",{"name":45,"class":46},""]
