The importance of oral health maintenance of the ageing population has been recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO), as oral health plays a key role in reaching the global goal of the \"Decade of Healthy Ageing 2021-2030\".\n\nNew measures for maintaining good oral health are welcome. The use of antibacterial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) and antibacterial blue light (aBL) has been studied and found to reduce the amount of plaque in the mouth. The Lumoral device is a CE-marked home medical device combining aPDT and aBL, and it is effective in reducing the development of plaque and harmful bacteria in the plaque. The device has also been shown to be easy and safe to use. In this study, a combination of regular dental appointments with the importance of enhanced dental self-care, will be tested as one regional solution for reaching the global goal set by WHO.",[27,28,29],"Dental Plaque","Bleeding of Subgingival Space","Oral Complication",[31,32,33,34,35,36],"Lumoral","Preventive oral care","Antibacterial photodynamic therapy (aBPT)","aMMP-8","Plaque control","Oral hygiene","RECRUITING","2025-08-05",{"date":40,"type":41},"2025-08-07","ACTUAL",{"date":43,"type":41},"2025-01-02",{"date":45,"type":21},"2027-06",{"name":47,"class":48},"Koite Health Oy","INDUSTRY",3,{"id":51,"slug":52,"hasResults":11,"nctId":53,"briefTitle":54,"officialTitle":55,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":56,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":17,"minAge":57,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":58,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":22,"phases":60,"briefSummary":61,"conditions":62,"keywords":64,"overallStatus":37,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":67,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":68,"startDateStruct":69,"completionDateStruct":71,"leadSponsor":73,"locationsCount":74},"100582173","efficacy-of-adjunctive-at-home-photodynamic-therapy-apdt-in-the-treatment-of-peri-implant-mucositis-100582173","NCT06859866","Efficacy of Adjunctive At-Home Photodynamic Therapy (aPDT) in the Treatment of Peri-Implant Mucositis","Efficacy of Adjunctive At-Home Photodynamic Therapy (aPDT) in the Treatment of Peri-Implant Mucositis: A Post-Marketing Interventional Pilot Study With a Medical Device","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Presence of at least 20 teeth within the oral cavity.\n* Diagnosis of peri-implant mucositis: bleeding or suppuration upon gentle probing with or without increased probing depth compared to previous evaluations, and no bone loss beyond the changes in the crestal bone level resulting from initial bone remodeling.\n* Patients willing and able to provide written informed consent.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Pregnancy.\n* Patients with a history of periodontitis.\n* Use of medications that could affect soft tissues within the past 6 months (e.g., antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, anticonvulsants, immunosuppressants, or calcium channel blockers, including doxycycline and bisphosphonates).\n* Allergy to the photosensitizer.\n* Patients with removable major prostheses or orthodontic appliances.\n* Patients with untreated carious lesions.","18 Years",{"count":59,"type":21},30,[24],"The study aims to establish a validated protocol enabling an alternative approach for bacterial biofilm control through the application of a novel at-home photodynamic\u002Fantibacterial blue light therapy in addition to non-surgical professional treatment (NST) for peri-implant mucositis.
