As a side inquiry, a few blood measures will be taken that are relevant to low level inflammation. The main questions the study aims to answer are:\n\n* Will hydrolyzed whey lower serum cholesterol readings in adults with starting values in the upper end of normal to the lower end of elevated?\n* Will the hydrolyzed whey affect a general measure of inflammation and two measures of indirect relevance to inflammation?\n\nResearchers will compare hydrolyzed whey to a conventional whey (a control protein not expected to affect serum cholesterol readings) to see if the hydrolyzed whey lowers serum cholesterol.\n\nParticipants will:\n\n* Drink one protein beverage every day for 6 weeks;\n* Go to a LabCorp facility for a blood draw before and after the 6 weeks.",[28],"Cholesterol",[28,30,31,32,33],"Whey","inflammation","Moderately elevated cholesterol","High end normal cholesterol","RECRUITING","2025-08-05",{"date":37,"type":38},"2025-08-08","ACTUAL",{"date":35,"type":38},{"date":41,"type":22},"2026-01-15",{"name":43,"class":44},"Medinutra LLC","OTHER",1,{"id":47,"slug":48,"hasResults":11,"nctId":49,"briefTitle":50,"officialTitle":51,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":52,"healthyVolunteers":16,"sex":17,"minAge":18,"maxAge":19,"enrollmentInfo":53,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":23,"phases":55,"briefSummary":56,"conditions":57,"keywords":59,"overallStatus":34,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":62,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":63,"startDateStruct":65,"completionDateStruct":67,"leadSponsor":69,"locationsCount":45},"100597789","curcumin--astaxanthin-for-lowering-triglyceride-readings-and-inflammation-100597789","NCT07063056","Curcumin & Astaxanthin for Lowering Triglyceride Readings and Inflammation","Curcumin and Astaxanthin for Lowering Triglyceride Readings and Inflammation","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Triglyceride reading of 140-250 mg\u002FdL\n* Age 21-59\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Uncontrolled diabetes\n* Hypothyroidism or other hormonal problems that have not stabilized\n* Any liver diseases being actively treated\n* Cancer\n* Renal dialysis use\n* Rheumatoid arthritis and related issues like lupus\n* Inflammatory bowel disease\n* Smoking\n* Low blood pressure\n* Having more than 5 alcoholic drinks per week\n* Extreme obesity (BMI over 37)\n* Pregnancy or lactation",{"count":54,"type":22},64,[25],"Two dietary supplements are each being compared to a placebo for the ability to help maintain triglycerides in the normal range.
