History of antibiotic usage in the last seven days","ALL","15 Years",{"count":19,"type":20},174,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[23],"NA","The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if the use of prophylactic antibiotics and antimicrobial-coated sutures can prevent surgical site infection in children undergoing open groin surgeries. The main question it aims to answer is:\n\n• Does the use of intravenous prophylactic antibiotics or antimicrobial-coated sutures significantly reduce the occurrence of surgical site infection in children undergoing open groin surgeries?\n\nResearchers will compare no antibiotic use to the use of intravenous prophylactic antibiotics, or antimicrobial-coated sutures to see if the use of intravenous prophylactic antibiotics and antimicrobial-coated sutures significantly reduces the occurrence of surgical site infection following open groin surgeries in children.\n\nParticipants will:\n\n* Undergo open groin surgery with either the use of intravenous prophylactic antibiotic or antimicrobial-coated sutures or without antibiotic use\n* Visit the clinic on postoperative days 5, 13 and 30 for review of the surgical wounds for any sign of infection.",[26,27,28],"Inguinal Hernia","Hydroceles","Surgical Site Infection",[30,31,32,33],"Paediatric groin surgeries","Intravenous prophylactic antibiotics","Antimicrobial-coated sutures","Double blinded randomized controlled trial","RECRUITING","2026-01-08",{"date":37,"type":38},"2026-01-16","ACTUAL",{"date":40,"type":38},"2025-03-09",{"date":42,"type":20},"2026-02-27",{"name":44,"class":45},"Olawumi Olajide","OTHER",""]
