Injection Botox is a widely used sphincter-preserving treatment that produces temporary relaxation of the internal anal sphincter and promotes fissure healing. However, healing rates with injection Botox alone are variable and recurrence remains a concern.

This prospective comparative trial aims to compare the effectiveness and safety of injection Botox alone versus injection Botox combined with fissurectomy and anoplasty in adults with chronic anal fissure. The study will evaluate healing rate, pain relief, time to healing, recurrence, postoperative complications, continence outcomes, and patient satisfaction.

A total of 108 eligible patients with chronic anal fissure will be enrolled and allocated to one of the two treatment groups. Participants will be followed after treatment to assess clinical outcomes. The results of this study are expected to provide evidence regarding the optimal sphincter-preserving treatment approach for chronic anal fissure and help improve patient care and quality of life.",[27],"Anal Fissure Chronic","RECRUITING","2026-06-24
2026-06-26","ACTUAL
2026-06-03
2026-12-03
Islamabad Medical and Dental College","OTHER",1
"100636640","comparison-of-botulinum-toxin-injection-and-lateral-internal-sphincterotomy-in-chronic-anal-fissure-management-100636640","NCT07568314","Comparison of Botulinum Toxin Injection and Lateral Internal Sphincterotomy in Chronic Anal Fissure Management","A Prospective Comparative Study of Clinical Outcomes Between Botulinum Toxin Injection and Lateral Internal Sphincterotomy in the Management of Chronic Anal Fissure","BOT-LIS-CAF","Inclusion Criteria:Age 18-65 years Diagnosed chronic anal fissure (\\>6 weeks duration) Failure of conservative management Both male and female patients Willingness to provide informed consent -

Exclusion Criteria:Acute anal fissure Previous anal surgery Inflammatory bowel disease Pregnancy Neurological disorders affecting continence Known hypersensitivity to botulinum toxin

\\-
90,[24],"This study aims to compare two commonly used treatments for chronic anal fissure: botulinum toxin injection and lateral internal sphincterotomy. Chronic anal fissure is a painful condition that causes severe discomfort during bowel movements and can significantly affect a patient's quality of life.

Botulinum toxin injection is a minimally invasive procedure that temporarily relaxes the anal sphincter muscle to promote healing. In contrast, lateral internal sphincterotomy is a minor surgical procedure that permanently reduces sphincter pressure and is considered the standard treatment with high healing rates.

A total of 90 adult patients with chronic anal fissure will be enrolled and divided into two groups. One group will receive botulinum toxin injection, while the other group will undergo lateral internal sphincterotomy. Patients will be followed up regularly to assess healing, pain relief, recurrence of the fissure, and any complications such as incontinence.

The purpose of this study is to determine which treatment provides better outcomes in terms of effectiveness and safety, helping doctors choose the most appropriate treatment for patients.",[27],"2026-04-28
2026-05-05
2026-03-02
2026-08-31
"100577842","effect-of-enhanced-recovery-after-surgery-for-benign-anorectal-conditions-100577842","NCT06803550","Effect of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery for Benign Anorectal Conditions","Effect of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery in Reducing the Incidence of Postoperative Urinary Retention After Surgery for Benign Anorectal Conditions: a Randomized Controlled Trial","Inclusion Criteria:

* both sexes
* aged between 18 and 65 years old
* presented with benign anorectal conditions including chronic anal fissure, hemorrhoids, and fistula-in-ano will be eligible for the study

Exclusion Criteria:

* younger than 18
* older than 65 years old
* pregnant female
* history of relevant urological diagnosis (benign prostatic hyperplasia/prostate cancer/urethral stricture/bladder neck stenosis/detrusor underactivity/detrusor overactivity)
* history of relevant urological procedure (radical prostatectomy/ transurethral prostatectomy/bladder neck or urethral surgery/pelvic radiotherapy)
* use of permanent urinary catheter
* intraoperative urological procedures
* with any form of urinary diversion
* severe cognitive impairment
* who undergo other anorectal procedures
100,[24],"This study aims to assess the role of Enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS) protocol in reducing postoperative urine retention (POUR) after surgery for benign anorectal conditions.",[74,27,75,76],"Anal Fistula","Haemorrhoid","Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Protocol",[78,79,80,81,82,83],"ERAS","Postoperative urinary retention","Benign anorectal conditions","Anal fistula","Anal fissure","Haemorrhoids","2025-01-30
2025-02-03
2024-12-17
2025-06-30
Mansoura University"]
