As the elderly population grows worldwide, the proportion of older adults undergoing surgical procedures continues to rise, and frailty is expected to become increasingly prevalent among surgical candidates.\n\nAnxiety is one of the most common psychiatric conditions, affecting approximately one in three individuals globally. Preoperative anxiety may negatively influence surgical outcomes, particularly in older and more vulnerable patients.\n\nThis prospective observational study aims to evaluate the relationship between preoperative anxiety level and frailty score in elderly patients aged 65 years and older scheduled for elective hip arthroplasty. Frailty will be assessed using the FRAIL Scale (Fatigue, Resistance, Ambulation, Illness, Loss of Weight), and anxiety will be measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A). Secondary outcomes include the prevalence of frailty and anxiety, the effect of frailty on length of hospital stay, postoperative intensive care unit admission rates, and the relationship between frailty and preoperative laboratory and hemodynamic parameters.",[25,26,27],"Fraility","Anxiety, Preoperative","Hip Arthroplasty",[25,29,30,31,27,32,33,34,35],"FRAIL Scale","Preoperative Anxiety","Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale","Elderly","Geriatric","Observational Study","Anesthesiology","RECRUITING","2026-06-04",{"date":39,"type":40},"2026-06-08","ACTUAL",{"date":42,"type":40},"2024-12-01",{"date":44,"type":20},"2026-07-01",{"name":46,"class":47},"Başakşehir Çam & Sakura City Hospital","OTHER_GOV",1,{"id":50,"slug":51,"hasResults":11,"nctId":52,"briefTitle":53,"officialTitle":54,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":55,"healthyVolunteers":56,"sex":16,"minAge":57,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":58,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":60,"phases":61,"briefSummary":63,"conditions":64,"keywords":66,"overallStatus":36,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":69,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":70,"startDateStruct":72,"completionDateStruct":74,"leadSponsor":76,"locationsCount":48},"100426740","auriculotherapy-in-the-treatment-of-pre-operative-anxiety-100426740","NCT04836936","Auriculotherapy in the Treatment of Pre-Operative Anxiety","Auriculotherapy in the Treatment of Pre-Operative Anxiety - A Randomized, Prospective, Placebo-Controlled Clinical Trial","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Greater than 18 years of age\n* Scheduled to undergo partial or full elective nephrectomy\n* Subject is willing and able to provide informed consent\n* Anxiety score ≥ 19 and ≤ 29 on the PROMIS Emotional Distress-Anxiety-Short Form 8a.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Opioid dependence, based on the DSM definition of Opioid Use Disorder (OUD)\n* Chronic pain condition where daily opioid use is needed\n* History of fibromyalgia\n* Anatomical malformation of ear (genetic or trauma-induced)\n* Vasculopathy of ear\n* Raynaud's disease\n* Patient Refusal",true,"18 Years",{"count":59,"type":20},60,"INTERVENTIONAL",[62],"NA","The goal of this clinical trial is to use the validated PROMIS Emotional Distress - Anxiety - Short Form 8a and PROMIS Emotional Distress-Depression-Short Form pre-and post-intervention to establish a superior correlation between the auriculotherapy treatment and the reduction of perioperative anxiety. Currently, there are no recommendations regarding the prevention of preoperative anxiety. New approaches have emerged that show some benefit: music, binaural auditory stimulation and hypnosis. In the UAC J0 unit of the Amiens-Picardie University Hospital, the caregivers offer the PSiO glasses, a tool combining three techniques: light therapy, relaxation and chromotherapy.
