The goal of this clinical trial is to assess two different social therapeutic interventions -- one educational, one interactive -- for their effectiveness in improving clinical outcomes in patients with eating disorders. Patients in both interventions will receive education about social function in eating disorders, but those in the interactive treatment group will complete an additional collaborative art task.\n\nParticipants will:\n\n* attend a baseline study visit to complete clinical interviews, cognitive testing, and behavioral tasks\n* complete a pre-intervention assessment with questionnaires\n* attend eight sessions of their assigned treatment group over the course of 12 weeks\n* complete three virtual follow-up assessments 4, 8, and 12 months from their baseline\n* attend a final study visit to repeat some clinical interviews, cognitive testing, and behavioral tasks\n\nResearchers will compare changes in eating disorder, mood, and anxiety symptoms as well as test results from baseline and final study visits for each group to see if\n\n* patients can be treated effectively with education alone or if an interactive group component produces additional benefits\n* cognitive and behavioral task performance are associated with recovery or illness state.",[28,29,30,31,32,33,34,35],"Eating Disorders","Anorexia Nervosa","Bulimia Nervosa","Atypical Anorexia Nervosa","Purging (Eating Disorders)","Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder","Social Anxiety Disorder","Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)",[37,38,39,40,41,42,43,44],"social function","social cognition","social processing","psychoeducation","group therapy","group intervention","art therapy","social anxiety","RECRUITING","2026-04-28",{"date":48,"type":49},"2026-05-05","ACTUAL",{"date":51,"type":49},"2024-02-28",{"date":53,"type":22},"2028-09",{"name":55,"class":56},"University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center","OTHER",1,{"id":59,"slug":60,"hasResults":11,"nctId":61,"briefTitle":62,"officialTitle":63,"acronym":64,"eligibilityCriteria":65,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":17,"minAge":66,"maxAge":67,"enrollmentInfo":68,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":23,"phases":70,"briefSummary":71,"conditions":72,"keywords":73,"overallStatus":45,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":79,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":80,"startDateStruct":82,"completionDateStruct":84,"leadSponsor":86,"locationsCount":57},"100626452","feasibility-and-acceptability-of-metacognitive-training-for-eating-disorders-in-adolescents-with-anorexia-nervosa-100626452","NCT07435818","Feasibility and Acceptability of Metacognitive Training for Eating Disorders in Adolescents With Anorexia Nervosa","Feasibility and Acceptability of Metacognitive Training for Eating Disorders (MCT-ED) in Adolescents With Anorexia Nervosa","MCT-ED","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Adolescents aged 13 to 19 years;\n* Diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa or Atypical Anorexia Nervosa; confirmed by the treating child and adolescent psychiatrist according to DSM-5-TR or ICD-11 criteria;\n* Currently followed in an Eating Disorder Outpatient Consultation;\n* Fluent in Portuguese.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Acute suicidal ideation or behaviour requiring immediate clinical intervention;\n* Imminent risk of hospitalization due to clinical deterioration;\n* Current diagnosis of psychotic disorder, bipolar disorder, or substance dependence;\n* Any clinical condition that, in the judgment of the treating clinician, would make participation in a videoconference-based intervention inappropriate.","13 Years","19 Years",{"count":69,"type":22},14,[25],"This study aims to assess the feasibility and acceptability of Metacognitive Training for Eating Disorders (MCT-ED) in adolescents with anorexia nervosa and atypical anorexia nervosa.",[29,31],[74,75,76,77,78],"Feasibility Studies","adolescent","anorexia nervosa","metacognitive training","feeding and eating disorders","2026-03-10",{"date":81,"type":49},"2026-03-13",{"date":83,"type":49},"2026-03-02",{"date":85,"type":22},"2027-06",{"name":87,"class":56},"University of Évora"]
