All women will first receive the usual antenatal care services provided in Botswana, including routine health checks and HIV and syphilis testing. Women who enroll in the study will be randomly assigned to one of two groups:

1. Standard of care group: Women receive routine antenatal care only.
2. Intervention group: In addition to routine antenatal care, women are screened for chlamydia and gonorrhoea using self-collected vaginal swabs at their first antenatal care visit and again in the third trimester.

The main outcome of the study is whether screening and treating chlamydia and gonorrhoeae reduces preterm birth (before 37 weeks). Other outcomes include low birth weight, very preterm birth, and maternal health conditions.",[28,29,30,31,32,33,34,35],"Antenatal Health","Antenatal Care","STI","Chlamydia Trachomatis Infection in Pregnancy","Chlamydia","Chlamydia Trachomatis","Chlamydia Trachomatis Infection","Preterm Birth",[37,38,39,40,41,42,43,30,44,45,46,47,48,49,50],"antenatal health","antenatal screening","chlamydia","chlamydia trachomatis","chlamydia screening","chlamydia treatment","pregnancy screening","STI screening","STI in pregnancy","preterm delivery","Botswana","CT infection","chlamydia in pregnancy","birth outcomes","RECRUITING","2026-06-30
2026-07-02","ACTUAL
2026-05-25
2030-07-01
Adriane Wynn","OTHER",1
"100532757","time-to-clearance-of-chlamydia-trachomatis-and-neisseria-gonorrhoeae-rna-after-treatment-a-prospective-cohort-study-100532757","NCT06216964","Time to Clearance of Chlamydia Trachomatis and Neisseria Gonorrhoeae RNA After Treatment: a Prospective Cohort Study","DECHLAGO","Inclusion Criteria:

* \\- Patients attending the Trait d'Union department at the Nouvel Hôpital Civil for PrEP consultations, AES or HIV infection.
* Over 18 years of age
* Male or female
* Who have had an uncomplicated CT and/or NG infection treated with currently recommended therapies (Ceftriaxone 500mg DU for NG infections, Doxycycline 200mg per day for 1 week for rectal CT infections and Azithromycin 1g DU or Doxycycline 7 days for other CT infections).
* Subject affiliated to a social health insurance scheme
* Subject able to understand the aims and risks of the research and to give dated and signed informed consent

Exclusion Criteria:

* \\- Complicated CT and/or NG infections: epididymitis, prostatitis, upper genital infection, extra-genital involvement (keratoconjunctivitis, arthritis, skin involvement, Fiessinger-Leroy-reiter syndrome, Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome).
* Interfering treatments and associated diseases: Severe immunosuppression (HIV infection with CD4 less than 200/mm3, chemotherapy in the last 6 months, active haemopathy, congenital immune deficiency, immunosuppressive treatment including corticosteroid therapy for more than 4 weeks or organ transplant.
* Impossibility of giving the subject informed information (subject in an emergency situation, difficulties in understanding the subject, etc.).
* Subject under court protection
* Subject under guardianship or curatorship","ALL","18 Years
140,[25],"The aim of this study is to evaluate the negativation time of chlamydial and gonococcal PCRs after treatment for urogenital, oropharyngeal and anal infections.",[33,78,79],"Neisseria Gonorrhoeae","Uncomplicated Infections","2025-08-01
2025-08-03
2024-04-05
2027-11-01
University Hospital, Strasbourg, France"]
