Eligible participants will receive either L-arginine (6 grams once daily) or placebo, and their cognitive performance will be assessed using validated cognitive assessment tools over the study period. The participants will receive the intervention for 4 weeks and followed up every 2 weeks. The primary outcome is improvement in cognitive function, while secondary outcomes include safety, tolerability, and quality of life measures. The findings may provide evidence for the potential role of L-arginine in supporting cognitive health in elderly populations.",[26,27],"Cognition Disorders in Old Age","Cognitive and Behavioral Impairment",[29,30,31,32,33,34],"L-arginine","Cognitive impairment","Geriatrics","Elderly","Cognitive Function","Nitric Oxide","RECRUITING","2026-01-18",{"date":38,"type":39},"2026-01-21","ACTUAL",{"date":41,"type":39},"2025-08-27",{"date":43,"type":20},"2026-06-30",{"name":45,"class":46},"German University in Cairo","OTHER",1,{"id":49,"slug":50,"hasResults":11,"nctId":51,"briefTitle":52,"officialTitle":53,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":54,"healthyVolunteers":55,"sex":16,"minAge":17,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":56,"targetDuration":58,"studyType":59,"phases":4,"briefSummary":60,"conditions":61,"keywords":62,"overallStatus":35,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":65,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":66,"startDateStruct":68,"completionDateStruct":70,"leadSponsor":72,"locationsCount":47},"100603347","incidence-of-postoperative-cognitive-decline-in-patients-with-preexisting-cognitive-impairment-100603347","NCT07135336","Incidence of Postoperative Cognitive Decline in Patients With Preexisting Cognitive Impairment","Incidence of Postoperative Cognitive Decline in Surgical Patients With Preexisting Cognitive Impairment: A Prospective Cohort Study","1. These memory problems are called postoperative cognitive decline (POCD). Older adults with memory problems before surgery may be more likely to have trouble with thinking, memory, and daily activities after their operation. This study will follow patients who already have memory problems before surgery and see how their thinking and memory change after surgery.
