The main questions it aims to answer are:\n\nDo roughened or vacuum-formed thermoplastic sheet palatal rugae designs lead to higher patient satisfaction than the traditional polished design?\n\nDo these designs improve oral health-related quality of life, including chewing, speaking, and overall comfort?\n\nResearchers will compare three denture designs-a polished palatal surface, a roughened palatal surface, and a vacuum-formed thermoplastic sheet rugae design-to see which design provides better comfort, function, and quality of life for patients.\n\nParticipants will:\n\nReceive complete maxillary dentures made with one of the three palatal rugae designs\n\nAttend follow-up assessments at 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months after denture insertion (in person or by phone)\n\nComplete the OHIP-EDENT questionnaire and a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) to report satisfaction, comfort, and oral health-related quality of life.",[27,28],"Edentulism","Complete Dentures","RECRUITING","2026-05-07",{"date":32,"type":33},"2026-05-12","ACTUAL",{"date":35,"type":33},"2025-10-20",{"date":37,"type":21},"2026-12-30",{"name":39,"class":40},"Dow University of Health Sciences","OTHER",1,{"id":43,"slug":44,"hasResults":11,"nctId":45,"briefTitle":46,"officialTitle":47,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":48,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":16,"minAge":49,"maxAge":50,"enrollmentInfo":51,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":22,"phases":53,"briefSummary":54,"conditions":55,"keywords":4,"overallStatus":29,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":58,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":59,"startDateStruct":61,"completionDateStruct":63,"leadSponsor":65,"locationsCount":41},"100621997","accuracy-of-digital-vs-conventional-denture-impressions-an-in-vivo-study-100621997","NCT07377890","Accuracy of Digital vs Conventional Denture Impressions: An In Vivo Study","Accuracy of Intraorally Scanned Denture Impressions Compared to Conventional Border-Molded Impressions: An In Vivo Study","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Patients attending DDH for complete dental prosthesis.\n* Fully edentulous patients\n* All alveolar ridge classifications of Cawood and Howell 1988 (Cawood and Howell, 1988)\n* Above 18 years old\n* Arabic and English-speaking patients\n* Good physical health (ASA class 1 or 2)\n* Willing to provide informed consent.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Dentate patients\n* Implant-attachment-supported complete denture.\n* Patients un-willing to participate (non-consented patients)\n* Patients with severe gag reflex\n* Patients who are mentally unstable, drug users or alcoholics","18 Years","85 Years",{"count":52,"type":21},10,[24],"The goal of this clinical trial is to compare the accuracy of two denture impression techniques, digital intraoral scanning and conventional border-molded impressions, in adults who have lost all their teeth (fully edentulous patients).\n\nThe main questions it aims to answer are:\n\nIs a digital intraoral scan as accurate as a conventional impression for capturing the shape of the mouth, including movable gum areas? Are repeated digital scans consistent (precise) when taken multiple times on the same patient? Researchers will compare digital impressions taken with an intraoral scanner to conventional impressions made with custom trays and border molding to see if digital scans can match the accuracy of the traditional \"gold standard\" method.\n\nParticipants will:\n\nAttend Dubai Dental Hospital for two study visits.
