Many aligner treatments involve expanding the dental arches to address issues like crowding and \"black corridors,\" but this can sometimes lead to gum recession.\n\nThe research compares two groups of patients: one group will have their treatment planned using CBCT, which allows for detailed 3D visualization of the teeth and bone structure, while the other group will follow a conventional 2D treatment plan. The goal is to see if the 3D tool helps prevent gum recession and other periodontal problems like bone thinning, as well as to assess the impact on other factors like upper airway dimensions.\n\nThe study is a randomized controlled trial with 40 participants. It will track changes in gum health, bone structure, and airway volume over the course of treatment. The researchers aim to find out if the advanced imaging tool provides significant benefits compared to traditional planning methods.",[27,28,29],"Orthodontic","Gingival Recession","Cone-Beam Computed Tomography","RECRUITING","2026-03-30",{"date":33,"type":34},"2026-04-07","ACTUAL",{"date":36,"type":34},"2025-09-04",{"date":38,"type":21},"2027-06-01",{"name":40,"class":41},"University of Liege","OTHER",1,{"id":44,"slug":45,"hasResults":11,"nctId":46,"briefTitle":47,"officialTitle":47,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":48,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":17,"minAge":18,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":49,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":22,"phases":51,"briefSummary":52,"conditions":53,"keywords":57,"overallStatus":30,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":61,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":62,"startDateStruct":64,"completionDateStruct":66,"leadSponsor":68,"locationsCount":42},"100510064","cone-beam-ct-in-the-diagnosis-and-surgical-treatment-of-otosclerosis-100510064","NCT05921578","Cone-beam CT in the Diagnosis and Surgical Treatment of Otosclerosis.","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Adults (\\>18 years of age).\n* Referred to our department suspected for otosclerosis.\n* Consents to participation in the project.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* A history of surgical treatment for otosclerosis (ipsilateral ear).\n* A history of tympanoplasty type 2-4 (ipsilateral ear).\n* Other competing middle-ear diseases (ipsilateral ear).\n\nInclusion and exclusion criteria for patients enrolled for post-surgical follow-up are the same as above in addition to:\n\nExclusion:\n\n\\- Intraoperative findings not supporting otosclerosis.",{"count":50,"type":21},100,[24],"Our studies will systematically investigate and establish evidence on whether Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) of the temporal bone could be used in the diagnosis and treatment of otosclerosis and in the post-operative follow-up after stapedotomy.",[54,55,56],"Otosclerosis","Cone Beam Computed Tomography","Stapes Fixation",[58,59,60],"otosclerosis","stapedotomy","cone beam CT","2025-04-01",{"date":63,"type":34},"2025-04-04",{"date":65,"type":34},"2023-05-17",{"date":67,"type":21},"2025-12",{"name":69,"class":41},"Rigshospitalet, Denmark"]
