The study addresses the common complications of incisional surgical site infections (SSI) and fascial dehiscence (FD) following emergency exploratory laparotomy. The primary objective is to assess the effectiveness of triclosan-coated barbed suture and conventional non-barbed suture in reducing the rates of incisional SSI and FD within 30 days postoperatively. The study population comprises adult patients undergoing emergent laparotomy for traumatic injuries or acute intraabdominal pathology. This prospective, single-blinded randomized control trial will be conducted at Los Angeles General Medical Center. Patients will be randomized to receive either triclosan-coated barbed suture or conventional non-barbed suture for abdominal fascial closure, with a standard closure technique employed. Patients will be followed up for 30 days postoperatively to monitor surgical site infections, fascial dehiscence, and other outcomes. Statistical analysis will be conducted to compare outcomes between the study arms, assessing the efficacy of triclosan-coated barbed suture in reducing the incidence of SSI and FD, along with secondary outcomes.",[54,26,55,56,57],"Laparotomy","Surgical Site Infections","Trauma Abdomen","Emergency General Surgery",[59,60,61,62,63,64,65],"fascial dehiscence","surgical site infection","laparotomy","ex-lap","STRATAFIX","PDS","triclosan-coated barbed suture","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2023-11-27",{"date":69,"type":31},"2023-11-28",{"date":71,"type":20},"2024-01-01",{"date":73,"type":20},"2027-01-31",{"name":75,"class":76},"University of Southern California","OTHER",{"id":78,"slug":79,"hasResults":11,"nctId":80,"briefTitle":81,"officialTitle":82,"acronym":83,"eligibilityCriteria":84,"healthyVolunteers":85,"sex":16,"minAge":17,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":86,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":88,"phases":4,"briefSummary":89,"conditions":90,"keywords":93,"overallStatus":27,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":96,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":97,"startDateStruct":99,"completionDateStruct":100,"leadSponsor":102,"locationsCount":39},"100518121","conservative-treatment-or-resuturing-among-women-with-perineal-wound-dehiscence-after-vaginal-labour-100518121","NCT06026423","Conservative Treatment or Resuturing Among Women With Perineal Wound Dehiscence After Vaginal Labour","Dehisced Perineal Tear After Vaginal Labour (HEAL) - Conservative Treatment or Resuturing","HEAL","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Women with a vaginal delivery who have had a primary repair of a second-degree perineal tear or episiotomy\n* At least 18 years old\n* Able to understand, read and speak Danish or English\n* Able to give informed consent\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* None, first, third- and fourth-degree tear\n* Cesarean Section",true,{"count":87,"type":20},300,"OBSERVATIONAL","The goal of this observational study is to make us more aware of the short and long-term outcomes for women having an uncomplicated healing process after a rupture or birth cut in the perineum after giving birth in relation to a healing process with a dehisced wound treated with conservative management or secondary suturing.\n\nParticipants will be asked to do\n\n* A gynecological examination at one month after birth and 9-12 months after birth.\n* Have a picture taken of the healing process\n* Answer a questionnaire at one month, three months, and 9-12 months after birth",[26,91,92],"Secondary Perineal Tear","Episiotomy; Dehiscence",[94,91,95],"Dehiscence","Episiotomy","2023-09-15",{"date":98,"type":31},"2023-09-18",{"date":96,"type":31},{"date":101,"type":20},"2026-09-01",{"name":103,"class":76},"Herlev Hospital"]
