IBS-D is a common digestive disorder that causes frequent diarrhea along with abdominal pain and bloating, significantly affecting patients' daily life and wellbeing.\n\nThe main goal of the study is to determine whether Gelsectan can reduce the severity of symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, and bloating, and improve patients' quality of life. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either Gelsectan alone, Gelsectan combined with an antispasmodic medication, or antispasmodic medication alone. The treatment will last for two months, with regular monitoring of symptom changes and any side effects.\n\nThe investigators hypothesize that Gelsectan treatment will lead to better symptom relief and quality of life compared to standard antispasmodic treatment. The study will also carefully observe the safety profile of Gelsectan during the treatment period.\n\nResults from this study will provide important information about the potential benefits and risks of Gelsectan for Vietnamese patients with IBS-D and may contribute to improving treatment options for this condition in Vietnam.",[27,28],"Diarrhea-predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome","Irritable Bowel Syndrome of Diarrhea Type (IBS-D)",[30,31,32,33,34,35,15],"Irritable Bowel Syndrome","Gelsectan","Diarrhea-Predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome","IBS-D","Irritable Bowel Syndrome of Diarrhea type","Xyloglucan","RECRUITING","2026-05-22",{"date":39,"type":40},"2026-05-27","ACTUAL",{"date":42,"type":40},"2025-06-15",{"date":44,"type":21},"2026-07-31",{"name":46,"class":47},"University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City (UMC)","OTHER",1,{"id":50,"slug":51,"hasResults":11,"nctId":52,"briefTitle":53,"officialTitle":54,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":55,"healthyVolunteers":56,"sex":17,"minAge":18,"maxAge":57,"enrollmentInfo":58,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":22,"phases":60,"briefSummary":62,"conditions":63,"keywords":4,"overallStatus":36,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":64,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":65,"startDateStruct":67,"completionDateStruct":69,"leadSponsor":71,"locationsCount":48},"100572776","phase-1-study-on-the-effectiveness-and-mechanism-of-tong-xie-yao-fang-in-treating-diarrhea-predominant-irritable-bowel-syndrome-100572776","NCT06737666","Study on the Effectiveness and Mechanism of Tong-Xie-Yao-Fang in Treating Diarrhea-predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome","Effects of Tong-Xie-Yao-Fang in Regulating Treg\u002FTh17 Imbalance of Diarrhea-predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome by Trp-Kyn-AhR Pathway","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* IBS-D patients and healthy volunteers meeting diagnostic criteria;\n* Aged between 18 and 70;\n* Have not taken antibiotics, steroids and other hormones, Chinese herbal preparations (including oral and intravenous injections), microecological preparations or probiotics such as yogurt in the past week.\n* Patients sign informed consent forms and are willing to receive appropriate treatment, and volunteers are willing to cooperate in taking blood, urine, stool and other samples.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Patients with serious heart, liver, kidney and other major organ diseases, hematopoietic system, nervous system or mental diseases;\n* Other organic diseases of the digestive system (such as peptic ulcers), organic diseases such as tumors indicated by recent colonoscopy, or systemic diseases affecting digestive motility (such as hyperthyroidism, diabetes);\n* Need to continue to use drugs that may affect gastrointestinal function (antidiarrheals, antidepressants, anti-anxiety drugs, intestinal flora regulation drugs, antibiotics, etc.);\n* Have a history of drug allergy or severe food allergy for research purposes;\n* Patients under 18 years of age or over 75 years of age and pregnant or lactating women;\n* Severe negative life events occurred during treatment;\n* There is currently any form of psychotherapy in progress;\n* No intention to cooperate.",true,"70 Years",{"count":59,"type":21},60,[61],"PHASE1","Traditional Chinese Medicine focuses on the main pathogenesis of liver depression and spleen deficiency, and treats them from the perspective of soothing the liver and strengthening the spleen to treat on Diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D) .
