It is characterized by abnormal development of the esophagus, which requires surgical intervention to be compatible with life. Surgical repair of EA is associated with risk of developing esophageal strictures or narrowing, which nearly affects 40% of cases. Strictures can be treated using endoscopic balloon dilation, which consists of introducing a catheter with a balloon into the esophagus via endoscopy and positioning it across stricture followed by balloon inflation. The inflated balloon is held in position for a set amount of time with the goal to dilate the narrowed area. At this time there are no pediatric studies comparing difference balloon dilation times and outcomes. Our study's goal is to evaluate balloon dilation inflation time in treating esophageal anastomotic strictures to understand if inflation time is associated with outcome.",[26,27,28],"Esophageal Atresia With Tracheo-esophageal Fistula","Esophageal Atresia","Esophageal Strictures",[30,31,32],"endoscopic balloon dilation","post-surgical correction","esophageal strictures","RECRUITING","2026-04-27",{"date":36,"type":37},"2026-04-30","ACTUAL",{"date":39,"type":37},"2025-10-28",{"date":41,"type":20},"2028-06-24",{"name":43,"class":44},"Boston Children's Hospital","OTHER",2,{"id":47,"slug":48,"hasResults":11,"nctId":49,"briefTitle":50,"officialTitle":50,"acronym":51,"eligibilityCriteria":52,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":16,"minAge":53,"maxAge":54,"enrollmentInfo":55,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":57,"phases":4,"briefSummary":58,"conditions":59,"keywords":4,"overallStatus":33,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":60,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":61,"startDateStruct":63,"completionDateStruct":65,"leadSponsor":67,"locationsCount":69},"100515720","long-term-outcome-of-easophageal-atresia--transmics-profiles-in-adolescence-100515720","NCT05995171","Long Term Outcome of Easophageal Atresia : Transmics Profiles in Adolescence","TransEAsome","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* For the oesophageal atresia group :\n* Born with oesophageal atresia (EA) in France or in French overseas departments and territories\n* Anastomosis performed\n* Included into the ReNaTo registry\n* Aged 13 or 14 during the recruitment period\n* Patient willing to comply with all study procedures and duration\n* Patient will social security\n\nFor the blood sub-study :\n\n* Upper GI endoscopy performed as part of care between 13 and 14 years of age with esophageal mucosal biopsy sampling\n* Patient having given written consent to participate in the study\n\nFor the control arm:\n\n* Upper GI endoscopy performed as part of care between 10 and 14 years of age with oesophageal mucosal biopsy sampling\n* Upper GI endoscopy performed as part of care for chronic or acute digestive signs to rule out organic etiology (peptic esophagitis, gastric esophagitis, eosinophilic esophagitis or ulcer)\n* Normal endoscopy and histology\n* No chronic progressive disease\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* For the oesophagal atresia arm :\n* Concurrent participation in an interventional trial and in the 3 months prior to inclusion\n* Parents refusing to participate in the study\n\nFor the control arm :\n\n* Histologically non-normal esophageal biopsy\n* Parents refusing to participate in the study\n* Child with known organic pathology","13 Years","14 Years",{"count":56,"type":20},300,"OBSERVATIONAL","Oesophageal atresia (OAEA), a malformation of the oesophagus present from birth, is characterized by the interruption of the continuity of the oesophagus, which then ends in a cul-de-sac.
