These cases of \"undifferentiated febrile illness\" are treated empirically with multiple antibiotics without an etiological diagnosis. Unnecessary use of antibiotics can increase the risk of antibiotic resistance and adds unnecessary burden of cost to the patients and their families.\n\nThis study aims to determine the etiology of infections using additional microbiological techniques in patients admitted to the hospital with acute undifferentiated febrile illness of 3 days to 21 days duration, and assess its impact on use of antimicrobial drugs. In addition to the clinical features, the etiological diagnosis will be confirmed by using additional tests including culture techniques and ELISA based serological tests for 7 additional pathogens which are currently not tested in Nepal. Patients meeting definition of undifferentiated fever of 3 days to 21 days duration will be enrolled from a major tertiary care center using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. This study will help to identify additional infectious diseases prevalent in Nepal, decrease unnecessary empirical use of multiple antibiotics, and improve patient outcome. Additionally, identification of new causes of febrile illness will help in prevention and control of these infectious diseases at public health level.",[28,63],"Fever Without Source",[65],"Febrile Illnes","2025-07-29",{"date":68,"type":40},"2025-08-03",{"date":70,"type":40},"2025-07-04",{"date":72,"type":21},"2026-10-01",{"name":74,"class":47},"Patan Academy of Health Sciences",1,{"id":77,"slug":78,"hasResults":11,"nctId":79,"briefTitle":80,"officialTitle":80,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":81,"healthyVolunteers":82,"sex":16,"minAge":83,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":84,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":86,"phases":4,"briefSummary":87,"conditions":88,"keywords":89,"overallStatus":36,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":96,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":97,"startDateStruct":99,"completionDateStruct":101,"leadSponsor":103,"locationsCount":75},"100589823","knowledge-attitudes-perceptions-and-behaviors-of-healthcare-professionals-and-the-general-population-regarding-vaccination-during-febrile-illness-100589823","NCT06959420","Knowledge, Attitudes, Perceptions and Behaviors of Healthcare Professionals and the General Population Regarding Vaccination During Febrile Illness","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Healthcare professionals : to administer vaccines as part of their usual practice\n* General population: adults aged 18 years old and over.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Healthcare professionals: professionals that do not vaccinate patients in their usual practice.\n* General population : individuals under the age of 18 years old.",true,"18 Years",{"count":85,"type":21},630,"OBSERVATIONAL","Patients and healthcare professionals often lack adequate information regarding the possibility of vaccinating during febrile illnesses due to limited data.
