Repetitive movements involving hip flexion, abduction, and rotation may contribute to functional impairment and persistent symptoms.\n\nRecent clinical interest has focused on the relationship between the iliopsoas muscle and the anterior hip capsule, as their close anatomical and functional interaction may play a role in the development of hip-related groin pain.\n\nPercutaneous needle electrolysis (PNE) is a minimally invasive, ultrasound-guided technique used to promote tissue remodeling and pain reduction in musculoskeletal conditions. However, its application to the anterior hip capsule has not yet been investigated.\n\nThis pilot experimental study aims to evaluate the effects of three sessions of PNE applied to the anterior hip capsule in male ice hockey players with groin pain. The main hypothesis is that this intervention may improve hip function by reducing pain and enhancing mobility and muscle strength.\n\nOutcomes include hip flexor strength, hip flexion range of motion, FADIR test results, and patient-reported outcomes measured with the HAGOS questionnaire. One frequent cause is femoroacetabular impingement, also known as hip impingement.\n\nThis clinical trial is studying whether adding ultrasound-guided percutaneous electrolysis - a minimally invasive physiotherapy technique that uses a fine needle and a small electrical current - to a program of specific exercises works better than doing the exercises alone.\n\nParticipants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups:\n\n* One group will receive two sessions of percutaneous electrolysis plus a home exercise program.\n* The other group will follow the same home exercise program without percutaneous electrolysis.\n\nThe study will last five weeks. Researchers will measure pain, hip movement, and hip function at the beginning, after one week, and after four weeks. They will also record any side effects.\n\nThe main goal is to find out if adding percutaneous electrolysis helps reduce hip pain and improve function more than exercise alone.
