Hyperacusis has been defined as 'abnormally reduced tolerance to sound'. It shows a high comorbidity with tinnitus, the perception of sound in the absence of a sound source. For the period of one month, hyperacusis and tinnitus severity and exposure to sounds will be evaluated by use of Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) in all participants. A novel approach to assessments, EMA prompts participants during their daily life to answer short questionnaires, increasing ecological validity and minimizing the risk for recall and memory biases. At a randomized time point during the one-month period, participants will individually receive a single psychoeducation session (1h) delivered by an experienced audiologist. The goal of the study is to investigate if the psychoeducation session leads to an increase in exposure to sound and a decrease in hyperacusis severity.",[26],"Hyperacusis","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2026-04-28",{"date":30,"type":31},"2026-04-29","ACTUAL",{"date":33,"type":20},"2027-12-07",{"date":35,"type":20},"2029-12",{"name":37,"class":38},"University Hospital, Antwerp","OTHER",{"id":40,"slug":41,"hasResults":11,"nctId":42,"briefTitle":43,"officialTitle":44,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":45,"healthyVolunteers":46,"sex":16,"minAge":47,"maxAge":48,"enrollmentInfo":49,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":51,"phases":4,"briefSummary":52,"conditions":53,"keywords":55,"overallStatus":59,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":60,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":61,"startDateStruct":63,"completionDateStruct":65,"leadSponsor":67,"locationsCount":5},"100633522","prevalence-of-misophonia-and-hyperacusis-among-teachers-100633522","NCT07527780","Prevalence of Misophonia and Hyperacusis Among Teachers","Could Hyperacusis and Misophonia Be Causes of Occupational Stress Among Teachers?","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Teachers actively working in preschool, elementary, middle, or high schools.\n* Age between 22 and 45 years.\n* Willingness to participate and provide informed consent.\n* No diagnosed hearing loss.\n* No chronic illnesses.\n* No diagnosed psychological or psychiatric disorders.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Individuals with hearing loss.\n* Individuals with chronic illnesses.\n* Individuals with serious psychological or psychiatric diagnoses.\n* Individuals who are not actively teaching.\n* Participants unwilling to provide informed consent.",true,"22 Years","45 Years",{"count":50,"type":20},500,"OBSERVATIONAL","This study aims to determine the prevalence of hyperacusis and misophonia among teachers and to explore how these auditory sensitivities may relate to occupational stress.
