However, IGD is increasingly causing significant functional impairment, particularly in the child and adolescent population. The primary objective of this study is to measure the serum levels of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) and Glial-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (GDNF)-both known for their roles in neurogenesis and neuroprotective effects-in a patient group aged 10-14 and a healthy control group. Additionally, this study aims to investigate the relationship between these neurotrophic factor levels and disease severity, as well as various behavioral and emotional parameters measured through psychometric assessments, to identify differences between the patient and healthy populations.

Researchers will compare IGD patient group with healthy control group, both aged 10-14.

Participants and their parents will be asked to fill self-report measures and serum samples of participants will be collected for BDNF and GDNF level measurements.

The main questions of the study are:

* Is there a difference in serum BDNF and GDNF levels between IGD patient group and healthy controls?
* Is there a relation between serum BDNF and GDNF levels and IGD severity?
* Is there a difference in impulsivity, reward/punishment sensitivity between IGD patient group and healthy controls
* Is there a relation between serum BDNF and GDNF levels and impulsivity, reward/punishment sensitivity scores in IGD patient group?",[27,28],"Internet Gaming Disorder","Internet Addiction",[30,31,32,33,34,35,36,37,38],"Internet addiction","Child and adolescent psychiatry","Neurogenesis","Neurotrophic factors","BDNF","GDNF","Impulsivity","Reward/punishment sensitivity","Internet gaming disorder","RECRUITING","2026-05-10
2026-05-15","ACTUAL
2026-05-01
2027-01
Istanbul Saglik Bilimleri University","OTHER",1
"100624474","tdcs-for-social-media-addiction-100624474","NCT07410104","tDCS for Social Media Addiction","Impact of Non-Invasive Neuromodulation on Social Media Addiction","tDCS4SMA","Inclusion Criteria:

* Age ≥18 years.
* Availability to participate in all study phases/sessions.
* IAT score ≥31 (moderate to severe level).

Exclusion Criteria:

* Diagnosis of depressive, anxiety, or bipolar disorders with recent symptoms; schizophrenia; psychotic disorders; or autism spectrum disorder.
* Recent psychotropic medication use or dose change within the last 3 months.
* Current need for inpatient care or ongoing psychotherapy.
* History of dizziness or seizures/convulsions.
* Contraindications to tDCS, including pregnancy, metallic implants, tumors, prior brain surgery, or significant anatomical brain alterations.","18 Years
60,"INTERVENTIONAL",[65],"NA","The goal of this clinical trial is to learn whether transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), a non-invasive brain stimulation, can reduce "craving" and problematic levels of social media/internet use in university students.

The main questions it aims to answer are:

* Does active tDCS reduce craving to use social media during the intervention period compared with sham stimulation and no stimulation?
* Does active tDCS reduce internet/social media addiction severity (measured with the Internet Addiction Test, IAT) compared with sham stimulation and no stimulation, and are any effects still present at follow-up? Researchers will compare three groups-active tDCS, sham tDCS (a simulation where stimulation is stopped after the first seconds), and a control group (no stimulation)-to see whether changes are due to tDCS rather than placebo effects or time.

Participants will:

* Complete an initial screening and baseline questionnaires (a sociodemographic questionnaire and the IAT).
* Be randomly assigned to one of three groups: active tDCS, sham tDCS, or control (no stimulation).
* Complete the IAT again after the intervention and again about 5 weeks later (follow-up), along with questions about social media use habits.

During intervention, participants in active tDCS and sham tDCS will:

* Attend 10 sessions over 2 consecutive weeks (Monday-Friday), with each session lasting about 30 minutes; mobile phone use is not allowed during sessions.
* Rate craving on a Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) at the start and end of each session.

This study will be conducted with university students in the Greater Lisbon area and will follow double-blind procedures for the active vs sham conditions (participants and researchers will not know the assigned condition until the end of the study).",[68,69,70,28],"Social Media Addiction","Craving to Use Social Media","Craving",[72,30,73,70,74,75,76],"Social media addiction","Digital addiction","Transcranial direct current stimulation","tDCS","Non-invasive neuromodulation","2026-02-18
2026-02-20
2026-03
2026-09
Egas Moniz - Cooperativa de Ensino Superior, CRL
"100593608","digital-parenting-education-impact-on-mothers-social-media-use-and-childrens-tech-attitudes-100593608","NCT07008651","Digital Parenting Education: Impact on Mothers' Social Media Use and Children's Tech Attitudes","The Effects of Digital Parenting Training Given to Mothers on Social Media Addiction and Their Children's Knowledge and Attitudes Towards Technology Use","Inclusion Criteria:

* Having at least a primary school degree
* Being a mother with a 3-6 year old child
* Using at least one of the digital devices such as a smart phone/tablet/computer
* Having a social media account (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp etc.)

Exclusion Criteria:

* Diagnosis of acute/chronic disease by the child or mother during the data collection period
* Wanting to leave the study","FEMALE
152,[65],"The aim of the study was to evaluate the knowledge and attitudes of mothers regarding social media addiction and their children's technology use.

The research is a randomized controlled trial.
