The starting age for colorectal cancer screening has been lowered from 50 to 45 years in response to the rising incidence of early-onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC), but how to best engage younger Veterans in screening is unclear. The investigators will 1) develop and validate a novel risk score for EOCRC derived from the VA electronic health record data, 2) conduct a multilevel screening intervention that targets individuals aged 45-49 years and informs high-risk individuals and their providers about their risk status for EOCRC, and 3) determine barriers and facilitators to implementing the intervention using a qualitative process evaluation. Aim 2 is the focus of the trial. The overall goal of this study is to create and test a risk stratification approach to prevent EOCRC, which may be especially useful for younger individuals who are less likely to participate in preventive care.",[29,30],"Colorectal Neoplasms","Mass Screening",[32,33,34],"early onset colorectal cancer","risk stratification","behavioral intervention","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2026-06-29",{"date":38,"type":39},"2026-07-01","ACTUAL",{"date":38,"type":23},{"date":42,"type":23},"2029-06-30",{"name":44,"class":45},"VA Office of Research and Development","FED",1,{"id":48,"slug":49,"hasResults":11,"nctId":50,"briefTitle":51,"officialTitle":52,"acronym":53,"eligibilityCriteria":54,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":18,"minAge":55,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":56,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":24,"phases":58,"briefSummary":59,"conditions":60,"keywords":64,"overallStatus":35,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":73,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":74,"startDateStruct":76,"completionDateStruct":78,"leadSponsor":80,"locationsCount":46},"100637216","pharmacy-based-opportunistic-atrial-fibrillation-screening-integrated-with-emergency-services-numaplus-fa-100637216","NCT07598903","Pharmacy-based Opportunistic Atrial Fibrillation Screening Integrated With Emergency Services (NUMAPLUS-FA)","Pharmacy-based Opportunistic Screening for Atrial Fibrillation Using a Portable ECG Device Integrated With Emergency Medical Services: a Prospective Type-1 Hybrid Implementation Study (NUMAPLUS Project)","Numaplus_FA","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n1. Eligible participants are individuals aged 65 years or older without a prior AF diagnosis who attend a participating pharmacy for any routine purpose. The screening consists of a 30-second ECG recording performed by a trained community pharmacist. Positive or indeterminate results are transmitted in real time to Salud Responde for clinical validation and referral to primary care. The study is evaluated using the RE-AIM framework (Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation, Maintenance). The primary outcome is protocol fidelity, measured by the Implementation Adherence Grade (IAG). The study is part of the NUMAPLUS project, funded by INTERREG VI-A España-Portugal (POCTEP 2021-2027), co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).",[61,62,30,63],"Atrial Fibrillation (Prevention of Stroke)","Arrythmia, Cardiac","Pharmacies",[65,66,67,68,69,70,71,72],"atrial fibrillation","opportunistic screening","community pharmacy","RE-AIM","implementation science","emergency medical services","portable ECG","hybrid implementation study","2026-05-20",{"date":75,"type":39},"2026-05-22",{"date":77,"type":23},"2026-06-01",{"date":79,"type":23},"2026-12-31",{"name":81,"class":82},"Centro de Emergencias Sanitarias 061 Andalucía","OTHER",{"id":84,"slug":85,"hasResults":11,"nctId":86,"briefTitle":87,"officialTitle":87,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":88,"healthyVolunteers":17,"sex":18,"minAge":55,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":89,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":91,"phases":4,"briefSummary":92,"conditions":93,"keywords":94,"overallStatus":96,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":97,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":98,"startDateStruct":100,"completionDateStruct":102,"leadSponsor":103,"locationsCount":46},"100555192","using-consumer-grade-wearable-devices-for-fall-risk-evaluation-and-alerts-100555192","NCT06508892","Using Consumer-grade Wearable Devices for Fall Risk Evaluation and Alerts","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* 65 years or older\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* have been diagnosed with neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer's disease, or have had a stroke in the last year\n* have orthopedic or cardiopulmonary conditions and\u002For surgeries in the past year\n* have physical limitations that would make it difficult or uncomfortable for individuals to perform the experimental tasks.",{"count":90,"type":23},100,"OBSERVATIONAL","Creation and use of a smartphone application for older adults to assess the participants' risk of fall.
