Deaths related to substance use (SU) and mental health conditions are a leading cause of preventable maternal mortality, including among Native mothers, making these conditions a strong target for reducing maternal mortality and morbidity. The objective of this study is to 1) adapt evidence-based perinatal care models that integrate pregnancy and postpartum care with SU treatment and care to meet the needs of Native mothers, and 2) assess the implementation and efficacy of that model for participants with substance use disorder who identify as Native receiving prenatal care at Sacred Circle Healthcare in Salt Lake City, Utah.",[25,26,27,28],"Substance Use Disorders (SUD)","Pregnancy","Maternal Morbidity and Mortality","Cultural Adaptation",[26,30,31,32,33],"Prenatal care","Substance Use Disorder","Native and Indigenous Health","Culturally adapted care","RECRUITING","2026-06-27",{"date":37,"type":38},"2026-07-01","ACTUAL",{"date":40,"type":38},"2026-05-26",{"date":42,"type":21},"2029-03",{"name":44,"class":45},"University of Utah","OTHER",1,{"id":48,"slug":49,"hasResults":11,"nctId":50,"briefTitle":51,"officialTitle":52,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":53,"healthyVolunteers":54,"sex":55,"minAge":18,"maxAge":56,"enrollmentInfo":57,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":59,"phases":60,"briefSummary":62,"conditions":63,"keywords":64,"overallStatus":34,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":70,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":71,"startDateStruct":73,"completionDateStruct":75,"leadSponsor":77,"locationsCount":46},"100522937","creating-vip-corps-to-reduce-maternal-deaths-100522937","NCT06089109","Creating VIP Corps to Reduce Maternal Deaths","Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Corps to Reduce Maternal Injuries and Deaths Due to Violence","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Students enrolled in a helping professions program\n* 18 years of age through 30 years of age\n* Students whom will have direct interaction with patients or clients that may experience interpersonal violence (IPV)\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Students not enrolled in a helping professions program\n* Students under age 18 or over age 30\n* Students with no direct interaction with patients or clients",true,"ALL","30 Years",{"count":58,"type":21},2800,"INTERVENTIONAL",[61],"NA","The goal of this observational study is to create and rigorously evaluate a violence intervention and prevention corps (VIP Corps) training using a randomized controlled trial among undergraduate and professional students; and to develop a novel maternal injury surveillance system (MISS) to complement an existing maternal violent death registry in Kentucky.",[27],[65,66,67,68,69],"Maternal Morbidity","Maternal Mortality","VIP Corps","Pregnancy-associated injuries","Pregnancy-associated deaths","2025-10-02",{"date":72,"type":38},"2025-10-07",{"date":74,"type":38},"2023-09-25",{"date":76,"type":21},"2027-09-29",{"name":78,"class":45},"Ann Coker",{"id":80,"slug":81,"hasResults":11,"nctId":82,"briefTitle":83,"officialTitle":84,"acronym":85,"eligibilityCriteria":86,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":17,"minAge":18,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":87,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":59,"phases":89,"briefSummary":90,"conditions":91,"keywords":96,"overallStatus":34,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":101,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":102,"startDateStruct":104,"completionDateStruct":106,"leadSponsor":108,"locationsCount":46},"100575516","enhancing-intergenerational-health-in-nigeria-peripartum-as-critical-life-stage-for-cardiovascular-health-100575516","NCT06773299","Enhancing Intergenerational Health in Nigeria: Peripartum as Critical Life Stage for Cardiovascular Health","ENhancing Intergenerational HeAlth in Nigeria: Peripartum as Critical Life StagE for CardioVascular Health","ENHANCE-CVH","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n•≥18 years of age,\n\n* Pregnant women under 14 weeks gestation,\n* Singleton gestation,\n* Body mass index \\> 30 kg\u002Fm2\n* Willing to participate in ENHANCE CVH for 2 years,\n* Planning to receive prenatal care and deliver at either one of the participating primary healthcare, centers or University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, and\n* Able to give informed consent for study participation, understanding she and her child will both be involved.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Current enrollment in a weight loss program,\n* Inability to engage in a walking program,\n* Active substance abuse\n* Treatment with medications known to impact weight (e.g., corticosteroids, antipsychotics),\n* Plan to relocate within the next 2 years, or\n* Unwilling to provide informed consent.",{"count":88,"type":21},1000,[61],"The purpose of the ENHANCE-CVH study is to promote intergenerational cardiovascular health (CVH) of women and children in Abuja and the surrounding Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria. The study team plans to achieve this through an adaptation of an existing evidence based intervention - Parents as Teachers (PAT) curriculum + Healthy Eating Active Living Taught at Home (HEALTH) - among pregnant women with obesity and their children in Nigeria. The aim of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness and implementation of community health educator-led delivery of the PAT+HEALTH intervention via home visits to answer the following main questions:\n\n* Will the women participating in the intervention have a greater change in weight from baseline to 18-month follow up compared to the women who do not?\n* Will the women and children in the intervention group display better CVH promoting lifestyle behaviors compared to those in the control group?\n\nParticipants in the study will complete baseline surveys and have clinical data, lab data, and body measurements captured. Participants will also have these procedures repeated at birth and every 6 months up to 24 months post-delivery. Once randomized to the intervention group, participants will complete 40 biweekly PAT+HEALTH curriculum delivery sessions, each lasting approximately 60-90 minutes.",[92,93,94,27,95],"Hypertension in Pregnancy","Hypertension","Obesity and Overweight","Maternal and Child Health Outcomes",[97,98,99,100],"Maternal Hypertension","Maternal and infant cardiovascular health","Hybrid Type 2 effectiveness-implementation","Obesity in pregnancy","2025-06-24",{"date":103,"type":38},"2025-06-27",{"date":105,"type":38},"2025-06-23",{"date":107,"type":21},"2028-08",{"name":109,"class":45},"Washington University School of Medicine"]
