Inadequate intraoperative analgesia may lead to increased opioid requirements, hemodynamic instability, delayed extubation, and prolonged intensive care unit stay. Objective monitoring of nociception may provide valuable information beyond conventional hemodynamic parameters in this vulnerable population.\n\nThis prospective randomized controlled study aims to evaluate the effect of ultrasound-guided parasternal plane block on intraoperative nociception in pediatric patients undergoing cardiac surgery with median sternotomy. Intraoperative nociception will be objectively assessed using the Pain Index Monitor (PAM), based on skin conductance measurements.\n\nThe results of this study are expected to provide objective evidence regarding the efficacy of parasternal plane block in attenuating nociceptive responses during pediatric cardiac surgery and to support the integration of regional anesthesia techniques and objective nociception monitoring into perioperative pain management strategies for children.",[27,28],"Median Sternotomy","Pain Management",[27,30],"Parasternal Plane Block","RECRUITING","2026-01-29",{"date":34,"type":35},"2026-02-02","ACTUAL",{"date":37,"type":35},"2026-01-30",{"date":39,"type":21},"2026-08-17",{"name":41,"class":42},"Diskapi Yildirim Beyazit Education and Research Hospital","OTHER_GOV",1,{"id":45,"slug":46,"hasResults":11,"nctId":47,"briefTitle":48,"officialTitle":49,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":50,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":16,"minAge":17,"maxAge":18,"enrollmentInfo":51,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":22,"phases":53,"briefSummary":54,"conditions":55,"keywords":4,"overallStatus":31,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":62,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":63,"startDateStruct":65,"completionDateStruct":67,"leadSponsor":69,"locationsCount":43},"100591734","ultrasound-guided-bilateral-pectoral-nerve-block-versus-bilateral-transverse-thoracic-plane-block-in-pediatric-patients-undergoing-corrective-cardiac-surgeries-requiring-cardiopulmonary-bypass-via-median-sternotomy-100591734","NCT06984276","Ultrasound Guided Bilateral Pectoral Nerve Block Versus Bilateral Transverse Thoracic Plane Block In Pediatric Patients Undergoing Corrective Cardiac Surgeries Requiring Cardiopulmonary Bypass Via Median Sternotomy","Efficacy Of Ultrasound Guided Bilateral Pectoral Nerve Block Versus Bilateral Transverse Thoracic Plane Block In Pediatric Patients Undergoing Corrective Cardiac Surgeries Requiring Cardiopulmonary Bypass Via Median Sternotomy: A Randomized Controlled Trial.","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Age: 6 months - 7 years.\n* Gender: both sexs .\n* Risk Adjustment for Congenital Heart Surgery (RACHS) II and III.\n* Patients undergoing cardiac surgeries requiring cardiopulmonary bypass with midline sternotomy incision.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Patients whose parents or legal guardians refuse to participate.\n* Preoperative mechanical ventilation.\n* Patients in coma, mental retardation, neurological disease, or on drugs affecting the behaviour.\n* Preoperative inotropic drug infusion.\n* (Bleeding disorders (drug induced i.e., coumadin;
