This project aims to identify the how the choices individuals make influence what, and how, people remember by combining disparate techniques in computational modeling and direct brain recordings in human subjects. The researcher developed a dual-task paradigm, probing how decisions in one task affect immediate recognition memory. To examine the neural mechanisms underlying model-free RL's influence on memory, the researcher will record local field potential (LFP) and single neuron activity in various brain regions as epilepsy patients perform the proposed task. The results of this project will identify specific neurocomputational mechanisms unifying decision-making and memory processes.",[26],"Memory, Short-Term","RECRUITING","2025-12-15",{"date":30,"type":31},"2025-12-17","ACTUAL",{"date":33,"type":31},"2023-10-31",{"date":35,"type":20},"2028-09-01",{"name":37,"class":38},"Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey","OTHER",1,{"id":41,"slug":42,"hasResults":11,"nctId":43,"briefTitle":44,"officialTitle":45,"acronym":46,"eligibilityCriteria":47,"healthyVolunteers":48,"sex":15,"minAge":16,"maxAge":49,"enrollmentInfo":50,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":21,"phases":52,"briefSummary":53,"conditions":54,"keywords":58,"overallStatus":63,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":64,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":65,"startDateStruct":67,"completionDateStruct":69,"leadSponsor":71,"locationsCount":4},"100551447","neurofeedback-removal-of-emotional-information-from-mind-100551447","NCT06460207","Neurofeedback Removal of Emotional Information From Mind","A 4-day Study of Neurofeedback Training of Cognitive Control in Healthy Adults","remtrain","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Right-handed\n* Speak English fluently\n* Minimum 8th grade education\n* Good hearing\n* Good vision or minimal correction with contacts or eyeglasses\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* History of significant illnesses (including cardiovascular disease, cancer, immunodeficiency disorders (including HIV infection)\n* Diabetes\n* Unstable endocrine disorders\n* Neurological disorders\n* Neuromuscular disorders\n* Blood dyscrasias\n* History of major psychiatric disorders (including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and dementia)\n* Substance dependence\n* History of head trauma with loss of consciousness\n* Cerebrovascular accident\n* Seizures\n* Neurosurgical intervention\n* Metal implants in the body (including pacemakers, neurostimulators, or other metal objects)\n* Metal piercings that cannot be removed for the scan\n* Women who are pregnant or who think they may be pregnant",true,"40 Years",{"count":51,"type":20},40,[23],"This project will examine whether individuals can be trained, using real-time feedback about brain function during neuroimaging, to effectively remove thoughts from mind by providing them with a sense of what it feels like to successfully remove a thought.",[55,56,26,57],"Neurofeedback","Cognitive Training","Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI)",[59,60,61,62],"Suppression","Maintenance","Cognitive Control","Working Memory","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2024-06-10",{"date":66,"type":31},"2024-06-14",{"date":68,"type":20},"2024-09",{"date":70,"type":20},"2025-12",{"name":72,"class":38},"University of Texas at Austin"]
