Most MCA aneurysms are accessible, proximal control can readily be secured in case of rupture, and clip application can typically proceed without requiring the dissection of perforating arteries. In comparison, certain anatomic features of MCA aneurysms such as a wide neck, often including a branch artery origin, frequently render endovascular management more difficult. New endovascular devices were and continue to be introduced to address these anatomic difficulties, including stents, flow diverters, and intra-saccular flow disruptors (ISFDs) such as the WEB. Thus, while most aneurysms are increasingly treated with endovascular methods, many MCA aneurysm patients are still managed surgically, but convincing evidence of which management paradigm is best is lacking.",[27],"Middle Cerebral Artery Aneurysm",[29],"Intracranial aneurysms","RECRUITING","2026-03-11",{"date":33,"type":34},"2026-03-13","ACTUAL",{"date":36,"type":34},"2022-05-15",{"date":38,"type":21},"2038-01-01",{"name":40,"class":41},"University of Alberta","OTHER",1,{"id":44,"slug":45,"hasResults":11,"nctId":46,"briefTitle":47,"officialTitle":48,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":49,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":17,"minAge":18,"maxAge":50,"enrollmentInfo":51,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":22,"phases":53,"briefSummary":55,"conditions":56,"keywords":4,"overallStatus":60,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":61,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":62,"startDateStruct":64,"completionDateStruct":65,"leadSponsor":67,"locationsCount":4},"100621591","phase-4-flow-diverting-devices-for-the-treatment-of-middle-cerebral-artery-bifurcation-aneurysms-100621591","NCT07372612","Flow-diverting Devices for the Treatment of Middle Cerebral Artery Bifurcation Aneurysms","A Prospective Randomized Controlled Trial of Flow-diverting Devices for the Treatment of Middle Cerebral Artery Bifurcation Aneurysms","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n1. It will also learn about the safety of flow diverter (FD) treatment. The main questions it aims to answer are:\n\nDoes flow diverter (FD) treatment improves the rate of complete aneurysm occlusion and patients' neurological function? Does flow diverter (FD) treatment loweres the probability of aneurysm recurrence and the occurrence of complications?\n\nResearchers will compare FD to a conventional stent-assisted coiling to see if FD treatment works better to treat MCA bifurcation aneurysms.\n\nParticipants will:\n\nUndergo stent-assisted coiling or flow diverter treatment Take pre-operative and pre-discharge head MRI scans, neurological function assessments, and cognitive function assessments Visit the clinic 1 year for checkups and tests",[57,58,27,59],"Aneurysms","Flow Diverter","Coiling Therapy","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2026-01-20",{"date":63,"type":34},"2026-01-28",{"date":61,"type":21},{"date":66,"type":21},"2028-10-15",{"name":68,"class":41},"The Affiliated Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital of Nanjing University Medical School"]
