This selection ensures variation in geographic location and organizational context. The participants in this study are physiotherapists working in the participating nursing homes.\n\nThe main questions it aims to answer are:\n\n* To what extent do the physiotherapy sessions align with the IAGG-GARN guidelines?\n* Are there differences in physiotherapy session content and volume according to physiotherapist characteristics and resident characteristics?\n* What barriers and facilitators do physiotherapists experience when implementing guideline-based practice in Flemish nursing homes?\n\nResearchers will observe physiotherapy sessions delivered as part of routine care and document session content and duration using structured observation diaries. Participating physiotherapists will also take part in focus groups discussing experiences with guideline implementation, barriers, facilitators, and clinical decision-making.",[25,26,27,28],"Guideline Implementation","Physiotherapy","Nursing Homes","Focus Group",[30,31,32,33,34,35,36],"Physical therapy","Older adults","Geriatrics","Long-term care","Guideline implementation","Focus groups","Clinical practice","RECRUITING","2026-05-04",{"date":40,"type":41},"2026-05-08","ACTUAL",{"date":43,"type":41},"2026-03-23",{"date":45,"type":20},"2028-12-01",{"name":47,"class":48},"Hasselt University","OTHER",3,{"id":51,"slug":52,"hasResults":11,"nctId":53,"briefTitle":54,"officialTitle":54,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":55,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":17,"minAge":56,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":57,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":59,"phases":60,"briefSummary":62,"conditions":63,"keywords":67,"overallStatus":71,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":72,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":73,"startDateStruct":75,"completionDateStruct":77,"leadSponsor":79,"locationsCount":81},"100596745","the-effect-of-swallowing-exercise-and-maneuver-program-for-older-adults-with-dysphagia-in-nursing-home-100596745","NCT07049471","The Effect of Swallowing Exercise and Maneuver Program For Older Adults With Dysphagia in Nursing Home","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* aged 60 years or older\n* experiencing swallowing difficulties as assessed by the Eating Assessment Tool-10 (EAT-10)\n* having no history of neurological disease\n* possessing adequate communication abilities\n* and being capable of performing daily activities either independently or with partial assistance\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* individuals with dermatological conditions in the anterior neck region, hypertension, orofacial pain such as trigeminal neuropathy or toothache, as well as those with significant malocclusion or facial asymmetry","60 Years",{"count":58,"type":20},72,"INTERVENTIONAL",[61],"NA","This clinical trial aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a structured swallowing exercise and maneuver program for older adults with dysphagia living in a nursing home. Dysphagia, or difficulty in swallowing, is common in elderly populations and may lead to malnutrition, dehydration, and aspiration pneumonia.\n\nIn this study, 72 participants aged 60 years and older were randomly assigned to either an intervention group or a control group. The intervention group received a combined swallowing exercise and maneuver program-including Masako Maneuver, Chin Tuck Against Resistance, Supraglottic Swallow, and Super-Supraglottic Swallow-performed three times daily before meals over a six-week period. The control group received standard care, including upright sitting posture during meals.\n\nSwallowing ability was measured using the EAT-10 questionnaire. The intervention group showed significant improvement in swallowing scores, while no meaningful changes were observed in the control group. This study suggests that nurse-led swallowing exercises can be a safe, simple, and effective strategy to improve swallowing function and quality of life in older adults living in long-term care settings.",[64,65,66,27],"Oropharyngeal Dysphagia","Swallowing Disorders","Frailty-related Dysphagia",[64,68,69,70],"older adult","nursing home","swallowing","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2025-06-25",{"date":74,"type":41},"2025-07-03",{"date":76,"type":20},"2025-07-10",{"date":78,"type":20},"2025-08-31",{"name":80,"class":48},"Indonesia University",1]
