Eligible participants (post-orthodontic patients requiring mandibular fixed retention) will be allocated in a 1:1 ratio to receive either a gold-plated 0.0195-inch multistranded retainer or an identical-gauge 0.0195-inch stainless-steel multistranded retainer. Participants will be followed for 6 months.\n\nThe primary outcome is post-treatment stability of mandibular anterior alignment, assessed by changes in Little's Irregularity Index over time, along with retainer failure outcomes (e.g., time to first failure and tooth-level failure events). Secondary outcomes include periodontal health indices and related clinical measures collected at baseline and follow-up visits.\n\nFor the microbiological assessment, plaque\u002Fbiofilm will be collected from the retainer using sterile swabs at 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months to evaluate bacterial levels associated with each retainer material.",[27,28],"Orthodontic Retention Appliance","Orthodontic Relapse",[30,31,32,33,34,35],"fixed retainer","gold-coated retainer wire","stainless steel retainer wire","Little's Irregularity Index","retainer failure","periodontal indices","RECRUITING","2025-12-11",{"date":39,"type":40},"2025-12-12","ACTUAL",{"date":42,"type":40},"2025-11-01",{"date":44,"type":21},"2026-12",{"name":46,"class":47},"Noor Sattar Raheem","OTHER",1,{"id":50,"slug":51,"hasResults":11,"nctId":52,"briefTitle":53,"officialTitle":53,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":54,"healthyVolunteers":55,"sex":16,"minAge":56,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":57,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":22,"phases":59,"briefSummary":60,"conditions":61,"keywords":63,"overallStatus":67,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":68,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":69,"startDateStruct":71,"completionDateStruct":73,"leadSponsor":75,"locationsCount":48},"100597047","comparison-of-dimensional-accuracy-and-color-stability-between-direct-3d-printed-and-thermoformed-retainers-100597047","NCT07053410","Comparison of Dimensional Accuracy and Color Stability Between Direct 3D-printed and Thermoformed Retainers","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Patients who have completed their active orthodontic treatment.\n* Adults aged 18 years and above.\n* Cooperative individuals willing to participate.\n* Patients with good oral hygiene and general health.\n* No systemic diseases that may affect treatment outcomes.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Smokers.\n* Patients with a history of poor compliance with previous orthodontic treatment.\n* Patients with parafunctional oral habits (e.g., bruxism).\n* Patients undergoing retreatment due to relapse.",true,"18 Years",{"count":58,"type":21},30,[24],"This study aims to compare two types of orthodontic retainers used after active treatment to maintain teeth position. The retainers are fabricated using either direct 3D-printing or thermoforming methods. The study will evaluate which method provides better dimensional accuracy (fit) and color stability over time. Adult patients who have completed their orthodontic treatment will be randomly assigned to one of three groups, each receiving a different type of retainer.
