Participants are randomly assigned to either the intervention group (mobile-based mindfulness intervention + usual care) or control group (usual care only).\n\nThe intervention uses a free and anonymous mindfulness mobile app developed by The University of Hong Kong.\n\nPrimary Outcome:\n\nPreoperative anxiety level on the day of surgery, will be assessed using the STAI-S questionnaire.\n\nSecondary Outcomes:\n\nPostoperative pain levels, use of analgesics, emergency department revisit rate, and user satisfaction with the app.\n\nData Collection:\n\nAnxiety levels are measured at baseline and before surgery. Pain levels and analgesic use are recorded postoperatively. Emergency visits and usability feedback are collected post-discharge.\n\nSignificance:\n\nThe study addresses a gap in evidence for mobile mindfulness interventions in Chinese surgical patients.\n\nFindings may support the integration of low-cost, app-based mindfulness into preoperative care.",[27,28,29,30],"Mobile-based Mindfulness Intervention to Reduce Preoperative Anxiety","Pre-operative Anxiety","Postoperative Pain","Postoperative Use of Analgesics",[32,33,34,35],"Mobile-based mindfulness","pre-operative anxiety","post-operative pain","postoperative use of analgesics","RECRUITING","2025-09-09",{"date":39,"type":40},"2025-09-11","ACTUAL",{"date":42,"type":40},"2025-06-13",{"date":44,"type":21},"2026-12-31",{"name":46,"class":47},"Hospital Authority, Hong Kong","OTHER_GOV",1,{"id":50,"slug":51,"hasResults":11,"nctId":52,"briefTitle":53,"officialTitle":54,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":55,"healthyVolunteers":16,"sex":56,"minAge":18,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":57,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":22,"phases":59,"briefSummary":60,"conditions":61,"keywords":64,"overallStatus":70,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":71,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":72,"startDateStruct":74,"completionDateStruct":76,"leadSponsor":78,"locationsCount":4},"100557969","informative-video-to-alleviate-anxiety-and-improve-satisfaction-in-elective-caesarean-section-100557969","NCT06545019","Informative Video to Alleviate Anxiety and Improve Satisfaction in Elective Caesarean Section","Study of Informative Video On Alleviating Perioperative Anxiety And Improving Satisfaction Score In Obstetric Patient Undergoing Elective Lower Segment Caesarean Section Under Spinal Anaesthesia","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* All obstetric patients American Society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA) II-III\n* First time undergo elective caesarean section\n* Under spinal anaesthesia.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Less than 18 years old\n* ASA IV\n* known antenatal diagnosis of morbid foetal conditions\n* history of psychiatry illness","FEMALE",{"count":58,"type":21},75,[24],"Title:\n\n\"Study of Informative Video on Alleviating Perioperative Anxiety and Improving Satisfaction Score in Obstetric Patients Undergoing Elective Lower Segment Caesarean Section Under Spinal Anaesthesia\"\n\nObjective:\n\nThis study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an informative video in reducing perioperative anxiety and enhancing satisfaction in obstetric patients undergoing elective Caesarean sections under spinal anaesthesia. The hypothesis is that patients who view the video will experience lower anxiety and higher satisfaction compared to those who receive standard pre-anaesthetic counselling alone.\n\nBackground:\n\nSpinal anaesthesia, commonly used for Caesarean sections, offers rapid, predictable pain relief but can cause discomfort due to factors such as visceral pain and fundal pressure, leading to perioperative anxiety. Anxiety can negatively impact maternal satisfaction and increase the risk of postpartum complications. Previous studies have shown mixed results regarding the efficacy of educational videos in alleviating this anxiety.\n\nMethods:\n\nThe study is a prospective, randomized controlled trial conducted at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre. Eligible participants are obstetric patients (ASA II-III) undergoing elective Caesarean sections. Participants are randomly assigned to either an intervention group, which receives a supplemental informative video, or a control group receiving standard care. Anxiety and satisfaction levels are assessed using validated questionnaires pre- and post-surgery.\n\nAnticipated Outcomes:\n\nThe study hypothesizes that the informative video will significantly reduce perioperative anxiety and improve maternal satisfaction, thereby demonstrating the superiority of this intervention over standard pre-anaesthetic counselling.",[28,62,63],"Spinal Anesthesia","Satisfaction, Patient",[65,66,67,68,69,62],"Informative Video","Perioperative Alleviation of Anxiety","Maternal Satisfaction","Preoperative Education","Elective Cesarean Section","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2024-08-20",{"date":73,"type":40},"2024-08-23",{"date":75,"type":21},"2024-08-15",{"date":77,"type":21},"2025-06-15",{"name":79,"class":80},"University of Malaya","OTHER","Pre Operative Anxiety"]
