It compares three intervention levels-Information and Grief Literacy (IGLiteracy), Individual Self-Help Program (ISelfHP), and Moderated Self-Help Groups (MSHGroups)-to assess their effectiveness in reducing prolonged grief and psychological distress. Participants are screened for risk of Prolonged Grief Disorder and relational needs, then randomized to matched or non-matched interventions. Outcomes are measured at baseline, post-intervention (3 months), and follow-up (6 months), focusing primarily on prolonged grief symptoms and secondarily on depression, anxiety, stress, attachment, social support, and traumatic stress. The study aims to provide evidence for a cost-effective, scalable, and preventive public health model of bereavement care.",[27],"Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD)",[29,30,31,32,33,34,35],"Prolonged grief disorder","Bereavement","Older adults","Tiered intervention","Community-based care","Self-help","Randomized controlled trial","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2026-02-19",{"date":39,"type":40},"2026-02-25","ACTUAL",{"date":42,"type":21},"2026-03-01",{"date":44,"type":21},"2028-12-31",{"name":46,"class":47},"ISPA - Instituto Universitario de Ciencias Psicologicas, Sociais e da Vida","OTHER",1,{"id":50,"slug":51,"hasResults":11,"nctId":52,"briefTitle":53,"officialTitle":54,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":55,"healthyVolunteers":56,"sex":17,"minAge":57,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":58,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":22,"phases":60,"briefSummary":61,"conditions":62,"keywords":63,"overallStatus":69,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":70,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":71,"startDateStruct":73,"completionDateStruct":75,"leadSponsor":77,"locationsCount":79},"100587725","technology-supported-interventions-for-prolonged-grief-disorder-pgd-100587725","NCT06932120","Technology-supported Interventions for Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD)","Technology-supported Interventions for Prolonged Grief Disorder in Adults a Randomized Controlled Trial","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Being at least 18 years old.\n* Meeting diagnostic criteria for Prolonged Grieft Disorder based on the International Classification of Diseases 11 edition (ICD-11).\n* Sign an informed consent.\n* Ability to understand and read Spanish.\n* Ability to use a computer.\n* Having an e-mail address.\n* Having an internet connection and Access to a Smartphone.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Presence of high risk of suicide.\n* Presence of axis I severe mental disorder: substance abuse or dependence, psychotic disorder, dementia, bipolar disorder; severe personality disorder or medical illness whose severity or characteristics prevent treatment.\n* Receiving other psychological treatment during the study.\n* An increase and\u002For change in the medication during the study period, in the case of receiving pharmacological treatment.",true,"18 Years",{"count":59,"type":21},141,[24],"The main aim of this project is to test the efficacy of two formats of delivering an internet- based treatment(GROw) for Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD) in order to enhance treatment adherence: in a blended format (that combines self-applied treatment online with face-to face sessions with a therapist by videoconference: BF-GROw) and self-applied online format supported by Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMAs) and Ecological Momentary Interventions (EMIs) (iGROw), compared with a waiting list (WL) control group in a community sample of patients with the diagnosis of PGD. PGD happens when the pain of losing a loved one lasts a long time and causes serious problems in daily life.\n\n* The main questions this study aims to answer are:\n\n 1. Does EFT lower grief symptoms in adults with PGD?\n 2. Does EFT also help with related problems, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and overall distress?\n* Who can take part:\n\nAdults (18 years or older) who lost a loved one at least 6 months ago and meet the criteria for PGD.\n\n\\- What will happen in the study:\n\nParticipants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups:\n\n1. EFT group: 8 to 10 weekly, face-to-face therapy sessions with a trained therapist.\n2. Self-help group: 10 weekly self-help exercises based on EFT, completed on their own.\n\n * All participants will complete questionnaires on grief, mood, and well-being before starting, during the study, at the end of treatment (12 weeks), and again at 5 months and 12 months after starting.\n * In the EFT group, the therapeutic relationship will also be measured during sessions 3 and 8.\n * Why this study is important:\n\nMost current treatments for grief are based on cognitive-behavioral therapy, but not everyone benefits from them. EFT is a promising therapy that focuses on emotions and has shown positive results for other mental health problems. This trial will test if EFT can be an effective treatment for people struggling with prolonged grief.",[27],[94,95,96,97,98,99,100,101,102,103],"grief","bereavement","prolonged grief disorder","grief with complications","Emotion-Focused Therapy","PGD","Randomized Controlled Trial","RCT","study protocol","Treatment Effectiveness","2025-11-26",{"date":106,"type":40},"2025-12-04",{"date":108,"type":21},"2026-09-01",{"date":110,"type":21},"2027-12-01",{"name":112,"class":47},"Universidad Pontificia Comillas"]
