The protocol was developed through a literature review and consultations with experts in sports psychology and career transition.\n\nMethods: The study will be conducted at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Salamanca (Spain). High-performance athletes aged 30 or older who are close to retirement or who have retired in the last five years will be recruited. Participants will be randomly assigned to two groups: the intervention group, which will undergo a psychoeducational programme consisting of 12 sessions over 3 months; and the control group, which will receive a minimum educational programme of one session. All participants will complete initial and final assessments, as well as a 3-month follow-up, collecting sociodemographic data and applying various psychological, social and health assessment instruments.\n\nDiscussion: This protocol describes a comprehensive psychoeducational intervention aimed at improving quality of life and attitudes towards retirement from sport, increasing life satisfaction, psychological flexibility, perceived social support, general health, self-efficacy and self-regulation, and reducing negative stereotypes associated with the end of a sporting career. The evidence generated will guide future interventions, policies, and educational programmes to promote a healthy, active, and satisfying transition to the post-sport stage.",[26,27,28,29,30,31],"Sport Retirement","Psychoeducation","Retirement","Adaptation","Psychosocial Factors","Psychology","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2025-12-26",{"date":35,"type":36},"2025-12-31","ACTUAL",{"date":38,"type":20},"2026-02-01",{"date":40,"type":20},"2027-05-01",{"name":42,"class":43},"University of Salamanca","OTHER",1,{"id":46,"slug":47,"hasResults":11,"nctId":48,"briefTitle":49,"officialTitle":50,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":51,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":17,"minAge":52,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":53,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":21,"phases":55,"briefSummary":56,"conditions":57,"keywords":61,"overallStatus":32,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":67,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":68,"startDateStruct":70,"completionDateStruct":72,"leadSponsor":74,"locationsCount":44},"100603644","the-effect-of-cognitive-behavioral-therapy-cbt-based-psychoeducation-on-cognitive-flexibility-and-rumination-in-the-elderly-100603644","NCT07139197","The Effect of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)-Based Psychoeducation on Cognitive Flexibility and Rumination in the Elderly","The Effect of a Cognitive Behavioral Approach-Based Psychoeducation Program on Cognitive Flexibility and Rumination in Elderly Individuals Living in Nursing Homes","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Be 65 years of age or older,\n* Be willing to participate in the study,\n* Not have hearing or vision problems that would prevent understanding the training to be provided,\n* Have communication and comprehension skills,\n* Be literate,\n* Have a Standardized Mini Mental Test score between 25 and 30 points.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Having any hearing or vision problems.\n* Having physical, neurological, or psychological health problems that could disrupt group harmony and integrity.\n* Having an illness or problem that could prevent them from responding to the measurement tools used in the study.\n* Having a Standardized Mini Mental Test score below 25.","65 Years",{"count":54,"type":20},38,[23],"This study aimed to investigate the effect of psychoeducation on rumination and cognitive flexibility in elderly individuals residing in nursing homes. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)-based psychoeducation has recently been applied to multiple specific groups around the world and in our country. In general, executive functioning skills and, more specifically, cognitive flexibility appear to be important for the ability to use certain CBT techniques; however, considering that these skills naturally decline with age, further research is needed.
