This phase I\u002FII trial studies the side effects and how well fluorescence image guided surgery followed by intraoperative photodynamic therapy for improving local tumor control in patients with colorectal cancer that has spread to nearby tissue or lymph nodes (locally advanced) or that has come back after a period of improvement (recurrent). Fluorescence image guided surgery uses a drug named aminolevulinic acid hydrochloride. Aminolevulinic acid hydrochloride is a photosensitizing agent, meaning that is activated by light and, is converted to another drug in cancer cells more than in normal cells. The converted drug emits fluorescence red light when activated with low power blue light. It is used to assist the surgeon to see cancer cells and small cancerous tissue that may have been missed during routine surgery. In addition to emitting fluorescence light, the converted drug in the cancer cells and tissue can be activated with red laser light to kill cancer cells. This procedure is called photodynamic therapy (PDT). Performing fluorescence image guided surgery followed by intraoperative photodynamic therapy after the surgical removal of the colorectal tumor before the surgical site will be closed may be effective and improve outcomes in patients with locally advanced or recurrent colorectal cancer.",[27,28,29],"Locally Advanced Colorectal Carcinoma","Recurrent Colorectal Carcinoma","Stage III Colorectal Cancer","RECRUITING","2026-06-03",{"date":33,"type":34},"2026-06-05","ACTUAL",{"date":36,"type":34},"2024-07-30",{"date":38,"type":20},"2027-06-01",{"name":40,"class":41},"Roswell Park Cancer Institute","OTHER",1,{"id":44,"slug":45,"hasResults":11,"nctId":46,"briefTitle":47,"officialTitle":48,"acronym":49,"eligibilityCriteria":50,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":16,"minAge":17,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":51,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":53,"phases":4,"briefSummary":54,"conditions":55,"keywords":4,"overallStatus":30,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":82,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":83,"startDateStruct":85,"completionDateStruct":87,"leadSponsor":89,"locationsCount":91},"100542959","immune-checkpoint-inhibitor-response-in-solid-tumors-using-a-live-tumor-diagnostic-platform-100542959","NCT06349642","Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor Response in Solid Tumors Using a Live Tumor Diagnostic Platform","Observational Basket Trial to Collect Tissue to Develop and Train a Live Tumor Diagnostic Platform","ELEPHAS-04","Inclusion Criteria:\n\nSubjects must meet one of the following criteria:\n\n* Subjects suspected of or diagnosed with the following Stage IV\u002Fmetastatic or recurrent malignancies:\n\n * Lung: Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)\n * Skin: Cutaneous Malignancy, excluding Uveal Melanoma\n * Esophageal Cancer\n * Cervical Cancer\n * Endometrial Cancer\n * Colon Cancer: Mismatch repair deficient (dMMR) CRC only\n * All solid tumors with high tumor mutation burden (TMB)\n * All solid tumors that are microsatellite instability high (MSI-H)\n * All mismatch repair deficient (dMMR) solid tumors\n * Liver Cancer\n * Any solid tumor with measurable disease that is eligible for pure ICI therapy or that the clinician plans to treat with immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy.
