These impairments can cause significant distress and disrupt daily functioning by preventing individuals from actively participating in school or work, maintaining healthy relationships with others, and engaging in everyday activities independently. The goal of this clinical trial is to examine if action-based cognitive remediation (ABCR) therapy, a type of cognitive training program, works to treat cognitive impairments in participants with psychiatric disorders.\n\nThe main questions it aims to answer are:\n\n* Whether the intervention will improve the thinking skills of participants with different types of psychiatric conditions\n* Whether the intervention will improve social skills and work performance\n* Can this program be easily used in a regular hospital, and do the people who take part in it find it helpful and worth their time\n* Whether the improvements from the intervention last for a long time after the training is over.\n\nResearchers will compare how much the thinking skills of participants change during an 8-week waiting period (where they get no treatment) to how much they change during the 8-week training program to see if the training makes a bigger difference in helping them think and live better.\n\nParticipants will :\n\n* Complete a series of questionnaires on memory, thinking skills, and mental health at the beginning of the study\n* Wait 8 weeks without any intervention or training\n* Complete the series of questionnaires again\n* Complete an 8-week training intervention of ABCR where they will use special computer programs to practice real-life skills and tasks like planning a meal or making an appointment\n* Complete the series of questionnaires and an additional structured interview to assess acceptability and feasibility of the intervention.\n* 3 month later, complete questionnaires for a final time.",[26,27,28,29,30,31,32],"Psychiatric Disorders","Depression - Major Depressive Disorder","Schizophrenia and Other Psychotic Disorders","Anxiety and Mood Disorders","Bipolar and Related Disorders","PTSD - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder","Autism Spectrum Disorder",[34,35,36,26,37,38,39,40],"Transdiagnostic","Action-Based Cognitive Remediation","Cognitive Remediation Therapy","Cognitive Impairments","Cognitive Deficits","Neurocognition","Social Cognition","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2026-04-15",{"date":44,"type":45},"2026-04-20","ACTUAL",{"date":47,"type":20},"2026-05-01",{"date":49,"type":20},"2031-05-01",{"name":51,"class":52},"The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre","OTHER",{"id":54,"slug":55,"hasResults":11,"nctId":56,"briefTitle":57,"officialTitle":58,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":59,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":15,"minAge":60,"maxAge":61,"enrollmentInfo":62,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":64,"phases":4,"briefSummary":65,"conditions":66,"keywords":4,"overallStatus":41,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":68,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":69,"startDateStruct":71,"completionDateStruct":73,"leadSponsor":75,"locationsCount":4},"100625836","follow-up-of-adolescents-with-autism-and-psychotic-symptoms---psychiatric-co-morbidity-and-functional-impairment-100625836","NCT07427810","Follow-up of Adolescents With Autism and Psychotic Symptoms - Psychiatric Co-morbidity and Functional Impairment.","Follow-up of Current Psychotic Symptoms, Level of Function and Psychiatric Co-morbidity Among Adolescents With Autism, 10 Years After Identification of Psychotic Symptoms.","Inclusion Criteria: Age 15-18 at enrollment for the original study, autism spectrum disease, IQ\\>70.\n\nExclusion Criteria: Non.","25 Years","35 Years",{"count":63,"type":20},48,"OBSERVATIONAL","Purpose: To describe level of function, psychotic and psychiatric symptoms in a 10-year follow up of individuals with autism and psychotic symptoms.\n\nMethod: A case-control study based on a cohort of 48 teenagers with autism established 2013. Examples include, but are not limited to:\n\n* Schizophrenia Spectrum and Other Psychotic Disorders\n* Schizophrenia\n* Schizoaffective Disorder\n* Brief Psychotic Disorder\n* Delusional Disorder\n* Substance\u002FMedication-Induced Psychotic Disorder\n* Postpartum (Postnatal) Psychosis\n\nIndividuals will be eligible to take part in the study if they meet all of the following:\n\n* Age - between 18 and 65 years old.\n* Language - able to speak and understand English well enough to take part in the research activities.\n* Diagnosis - have a psychosis-related diagnosis as defined above.\n* Trauma history - have experienced more than one traumatic event in their lifetime. A traumatic event means something that was deeply distressing, frightening, or life-threatening, such as abuse, assault, serious accident, disaster, or war.\n* Current care - are under the care of a Local Mental Health Team (LMHT) within Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and on the Care Programme Approach (CPA) pathway. CPA is an NHS care plan for people with complex mental health needs, setting out the support they will receive and who will provide it.\n* Mobility - can travel independently to an NHS clinic or can be supported to attend.\n* Consent - able to understand the study information and give informed consent to take part (in line with the Mental Capacity Act, 2005).\n\nExclusion Criteria: People will not be able to take part in the study if any of the following apply\n\n* Recent change in antipsychotic medication - If the person has recently started, stopped, or changed their antipsychotic medication. This is because there are no specific medical tests (\"biomarkers\") to predict how someone will respond to a new medication, and the effects can vary greatly between individuals. The first few weeks after a medication change can be a time of increased risk for worsening symptoms or relapse. Research also shows that stopping and starting medication can temporarily affect thinking skills such as memory and attention.\n\nRecent serious mental health crisis -\n\nIf the person has experienced a significant adverse event within the last three months, such as:\n\n* A suicide attempt\n* A hospital admission for mental health reasons This is because there is currently little research on how trauma-focused therapy affects people with severe mental illness who have recently been suicidal, and starting therapy too soon after a crisis may not be safe.\n\nCurrently receiving another structured psychological therapy - For example, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or another regular talking therapy programme.
