Forty patients are enrolled and classified into septic and non-septic groups according to international sepsis definitions based on SOFA score criteria. Clinical, biochemical, echocardiographic, and molecular parameters, including selected microRNAs, are assessed preoperatively and within the first 24 hours postoperatively.
