Multiple well-being surveys continue to highlight EM's challenges with sleep impairment due to the nature of the specialty. Despite evidence that lifestyle strategies effectively optimize performance and recovery, EM residents have variable lifestyle choices to prepare for overnight shifts. This prospective randomized controlled trial will examine whether a pre-shift personalized fatigue-mitigation lifestyle coaching (PFMLC) for EM residents on overnight shifts minimizes the effects of circadian rhythm disruptions on performance and recovery compared to those who receive one-time passive information on lifestyle practices. All participants will receive lifestyle strategy materials on fatigue mitigation to improve performance. Residents' self-reported and biometric data will inform PFMLC in the active arm. Performance and recovery from night shifts will be assessed by changes in sleep, heart rate variability, readiness/recovery, alertness, cognitive performance, and mental health using Fitbit and validated measures.",[26,27],"Fatigue","Shift Work Type Circadian Rhythm Sleep Disorder",[26,29],"Shift Work","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2026-03-11
2026-03-13","ACTUAL
2026-07-15
2027-12-30
University of Massachusetts, Worcester","OTHER",1
"100545656","shift-worker-intervention-for-sleep-health-100545656","NCT06384742","Shift Worker Intervention for Sleep Health","Developing a Sleep Health Intervention for Shift Workers","SWISH","Inclusion Criteria:

* Provision of signed and dated informed consent form
* Any gender; Ages 18-65
* Currently employed as a nurse or nursing staff member (e.g., CNA) in the United States
* Currently have shift work schedules (i.e., stable night shift or rotating shifts that include nights, \\>=2 nights/week) and have worked shift work \\>=2 nights/week for at least 3 months
* Expect to have a shift work schedule \\>=2 nights/week over the next 6 months
* endorse poor sleep, as evidenced by T-score \\>=60 on the PROMIS Sleep Disturbance OR Sleep-Related Impairment measure
* Have daily access to the internet on a smartphone, table, or computer; and
* Can read and write in English.

Exclusion Criteria:

* Conditions which make study treatment likely to be ineffective.
