The researchers will look for particpants that are young adults to answer the following questions to reach our goal:\n\n* Is better BBB integrity, measured with neuroimaging, associated with better stress resilience in the short term and in the long term?\n* Does the administration of Metformin improve BBB integrity?\n* Is improved BBB integrity a possible link between Metformin and better short- and long-term stress resilience?\n\nThe participants will do the following during our study:\n\n* Participants will fill in online surveys on stressor exposure and mental health once every four weeks over 36 weeks\n* Participants will visit the study site 4 times:\n* The first time for a screening process which includes questionnaires, a medical exam and a blood sample.\n* The next 2 visits will include a blood sample, a medical exam, an MRI scan and a list of questionnaires\n* The last visit will include another blood sample, a medical exam and a list of questionnaires.\n* Between visit 2 and 3, the participant will take either Metformin or Placebo",[27,77,78],"Blood-Brain Barrier Integrity","Mental Health",[27,80,81,82,83,84,85,86,87],"Blood Brain Barrier","Emerging Adults","BBB integrity","at-risk","prospective","placebo-controlled","University Students","Metformin","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2025-05-02",{"date":91,"type":53},"2025-05-11",{"date":93,"type":21},"2025-06",{"date":95,"type":21},"2027-02",{"name":97,"class":60},"Leibniz-Institut für Resilienzforschung (LIR) gGmbH",3]
